Joe Kump tops Late Models at Volusia Speedway Park

Corey “Holleywood” Holley strikes again with his 5th win in the Taylor Racing Products Sportsmen
division. It was 2 & 3 deep as the green flag dropped with Josh Byrd taking the top spot. Steve Shead
moved past for the lead with Holley, Bobby Richardson in tow. It was a 3 wide battled as Holley, Shaun
Daugharty & Richardson fought for 2nd. Holley was on a mission as he turned on the heat, powering past
Shead for the lead and held on until the checkered was thrown. Top Ten: Corey Holley, Bobby
Richardson, Shaun Daugharty, Tim Miller, Donnie Birdwell, Garrett Stewart, Marc Kinley, Steve Shead,
Steve Branton, Levi Cribbs
Joe Kump brought his J17 into victory lane as he won the Daytona Dodge Chrysler Late Model Feature.
Scott Schumaker who was celebrating his 50th birthday, stood on the flagstand waving the green flag as the
late models swung into action. It was 3 & 4 wide, bumper to bumper, with Patrick Williams jumping to the
lead. Wayne Shugart (also celebrating his 67 birthday) , John Rankin, Bo Allen, David Clegg and the field
pulled up on his bumper battling 2 & 3 wide for positions. Rankin using the high groove pushed past
Williams after being side by side at the finish line for 10 laps. Kump was moving in and out of cars as he
made his way to the top. Rankin suffered car trouble having to pit as Kump took the lead. Williams pulled
up side by side as the fans stood on their feet, holding their breath to see who the leader on the next 7 laps
would be. Kump held on using his high groove line until the checkered was thrown. Top Ten: Joe Kump,
Patrick Williams, Bo Allen, Richard Ferry, Mike Warren, Howard Stalls, Chris Day, Larry Anderson, Ray
Price, Wayne Allen
Jason Davis victory was done in green to checkered style as he took the Budweiser Modified feature.
Davis jumped to the front as it was 3 wide, wheel touching action from the field. Larry Burkins, Jimmy
Carter, Charlie MacNichol, Jamie Carter and the field, battled petal to the metal, lifting tires around the
track as they fought for positions. Davis was a man on a mission as he held fast, full throttle holding off all
attempts to relinquish his lead until the checkered was thrown. Top Ten: Jason Davis, Jamie Carter, Larry
Burkins, Charlie MacNichol, Matt Permann, Jimmy Carter, Chuck Gustafson, Cory Hupp, Larry Mott,
Rick Scott
“Shady” Grady Christian was yet another Street Stock feature as he attempts to win the VSP championship.
The green flag dropped and it was 5 wide battling for positions with Christian taking the top spot. Christian
was on a mission as he stepped up his game battling off attempts by Tim Hughes, Richard Price, and Steve
Oldaker for the top spot. Chad Scranton, Alan Peacock, Randy Strehle, Casey Watson fought in the middle
of the pack , as nobody was willing to give an inch. Christian held on until the checkered was thrown. Top
Ten: Grady Christian, Richard Price, Tim Hughes, Steve Oldaker, Randy Strehle, Chad Scranton, Alan
Peacock, Casey Watson, Robert Hicks, Rick Friend
Dan Kerr takes another win in the RBC Bank Mini Stock feature. It was 3 way race for the lead as Tommy
Saunders, Rodney Wright & Kerr fought with Saunders winning the honors. Kerr was on a quest as he
battled Saunders for the lead side by side the entire race. Saunders held onto thtop spot, fighting on the
hard charging attempts of Kerr at the finish line until the checkered flag dropped. Kerr pushing past by an
inch for the win. Top Ten: Dan Kerr, Tommy Saunders, Nick Kerr, Richard Keith, Todd Haught, Sean
Babcock, Phillip Vibert Jr., Mark Paterniti, Rodney Wright, Ron Adams
Danny Lunn wins the Aerotec Aluminum 4 Cylinder feature. The green dropped as the cars fought 3 & 4
wide for positions. Tim Shull took the lead with Lunn, Scott Mooers, Hank Goodrich, Ashley Espy and the
field hooked onto his bumper. Shull had car troubles pitting for the night as Lunn took over the lead. Espy
put her car on his door as they fought side by side for the lead but Lunn maintained for the win. Top Ten:
Danny Lunn, Ashley Espy, Scott Mooers, Daniel Larid, Hank Goodrich, Sony Espy, Casey Feaster, Ray
Hunter, RJ Glaser, Tim Shull
