Dutilly and Ellis Take Outlaw Street Stock 100
CCMP MEDIA

Charlotte County Motorsports Park played host to a novelty race Saturday night, as the Outlaw Street Stocks held a Team 100. This was a switch-off race with one driver going the first 50 laps and then a teammate driving the final 50. It was a long, two-hour affair, but it was an exciting race.

The first 50 laps saw Open Wheel Modified hotshoe Wayne Jefferson charge to the lead in the 30 car, but he suffered a flat tire on lap 48 and Jesse Dutilly took the checkered in the 71 car. Troy Lacey was second and Vernon Hart third. The cars stopped in the infield to refuel and switch drivers. Cars started the second 50 in the order they finished the first 50. The second 50 saw Darrin Ellis take over for Dutilly in the 71.

Bryan Beckner, who raced at Charlotte County Speedway years ago before moving away, took over in the 33 for Hart. Beckner pressured Ellis for most of the second 50 laps, but he could never make the pass. Beckner spun out going for the lead on lap 94. Ellis went on to take the checkered. Robert Crisp finished up strong in the 30 car for second. The father/son team of Dave and Bobby Fisher finished third.

In other races, Dean Butrum edged out “Venice Bad Boyz” teammate Jeff Firestine in the Road Warrior 25-lapper. Rick Shelnut was third. In Thunder Trucks, it was Ryan Pancoast leading the field to the checkered. Tom Pryor was second and James Wright third. In Pro 4, Kirk Risner was strong in the 8 car. Codey Benoit took second and Wally Smith was third. The top three in Fab 4 were Dave Amelotte, Austin Craig and Dylan Bigley.
