Crisp the Toast of Outlaw Street Stocks
By Claude Lewis

Robert Crisp continued his dominance in Outlaw Street Stocks at Charlotte County Motorsports Park, as he won for the fourth time in a row Saturday night at the Punta Gorda 3/8-mile paved oval.

The 50-lapper was the longest race of the night at the race track.

Crisp worked his way through the pack in his No. 30 Monte Carlo. By lap 5, he was up to third place. By lap 9, he moved into second place. Crisp took the lead from Randy Johnson on lap 12.

From there, Crisp built a substantial lead, but midway through the race, young Bobby Fisher moved into second and started to gain on Crisp. Although Fisher made some headway in his No. 2 car, there werent enough laps as Crisp took the checkered.

Johnson finished third.

Experience won out over youth in the Sportsman 25-lapper, as Dan Scot t took the lead from Chad Jeffries on lap 18 and hung on. Jeffries was in his first trip in the No. 22 formerly owned by Danny Yates. Rayn Evanson was third in his first appearance ever at CCMP.

The Road warrior 25-lap feature was a tale of two races. The first 13 laps went without cautions as cars averted danger running door-to-door. There were seven cautions over the final 12 laps.

Ricky Shelnut survived to take the checkered. Jeff Firestine one of the Venice Bad Boyz was second. Shane Leonard took third.

Thunder Trucks boiled down to a two-truck duel between Randy Kile and Richard Dupont. Kile passed Dupont on lap 9 and went on to win.

Dupont did gain a measure of satisfaction later at night when he won the Figure 8 Boat Race.

The 4-Cylinder races saw the first-place cars win by plenty. In Pro 4, Wally Smith had his new 16 car humming, Alex Patten was second and Shane Moore third.

In Fab 4s, Dave Amelotte cruised in the 85 car. Logan Leonard was second and Rose Macho third.

Charlotte County Motorsports Park will be dark this coming Saturday night.
