BRYN GOHN WINS SPRINT FEATURE AT VOLUSIA SPEEDWAY PARK
by Shelley Doyle

Fans crowded into Volusia to watch the second leg of the Central Florida Sprint Car Challenge. Gene Lasker won the previous night at Ocala Speedway but the over all points winner and feature event win was up for grabs at Volusia. It was a full night of action pack, heart pounding racing as the night progressed.

Bryn Gohn was a man on a mission as he won the Sprint feature at VSP, while leading 29 of the 30 lap event. Bruce Durden jumped to the early lead as the field battled 4 & 5 wide for positions.

Rich Alexander running in the middle of the pack collided with several other cars as he took a wild ride flipping several times on the first lap. Driver was fine but the car was done for the night. Gohn powered past Durden for the lead on lap 2, while Lasker, Matt Kurtz, Gavin Thomas were fighting there way to the front runner.

It was a high speed chase as no one was willing to give an inch. Gohn held off all attempts for the lead, taking the checkered flag for the win. Gene Lasker was the overall points winner for the 2 day joint event.

The race was dedicated to the loss of sprint racer, Mike McCance who died 5 weeks earlier due to complications for a non race related surgery.
