JOHNNY “LOCAMOTIVE” COLLINS STRIKES AGAIN AT VOLUSIA
By Shelley Doyle

Fans crowded into Volusia Speedway Park in anticipation of a night full of action pack racing. They were not denied as the Late Models, Mini Stock, Sportsmen, Street Stock, Modified and 4 cylinders took to the field. It was a $3000 to win for the Daytona Dodge Chrysler Late Models.

The Mini Stock field had an additional $100 added to the 2 & 4 place winner from Florida Dirt Racing/Florida Dirt Bowl.

Johnny "Locomotive" Collins took the Daytona Dodge Chrysler Late Model feature along with the $3000 purse. It was a high speed line dance as the field of 26 late models took the green flag.
Brandon Cameron jumped to the lead but the next lap the lead was surrender to Darrell Padgett.

The field battled 4 & 5 wide for positions, Collins, Jason Davis, Tyler Ivey were on the move to the front as they hooked up to the bumper of Padgett. Ivey powered past Padgett for the lead, while Cameron was trying to battle off the hard charging advances of Collins for the 2nd position.

Jeff Henry, Padgett, Bo Allen fought 3 wide for position. Ivey and Collins battled side by side with Ivey using the low groove, while Collins preferred the high groove. It was side by side across the finish line for several laps until Collins battled petal to the metal, using the high groove to move past Ivey for the lead on lap 25.
