IT'S TIME TO RACE!!

Bowers & Cooper Return to Victory Lane at BMS
By: John Meeks - Speedway Media

Believe it or not, the weatherman was wrong again as there were no thunderstorms Saturday Night, which allowed for another beautiful night for racing at Bronson Motor Speedway. A large crowd of eager race fans were on hand helping the speedway celebrate Memorial Day Weekend.

On the track the Hornet Division continued to entertain as they were ran in the chicane on the speedway, making it even more fun for the crowd and drivers! Daniel Cummings of Inglis would wind up conquering the course the best and went to victory lane, followed by Bronson’s Tim Hagen and Lamar Smith came home third. This class continues to grow every week!

As the Thunder Stocks rolled onto the track the excitement grew even more as Larry Welter Sr and Bobby Taylor would make contact early in the race, sending the 63 of Bobby Taylor to the rear of the field. That left a hard charging Don Welter chasing down Larry Welter, Sr with Larry Welter, Jr in tow. Larry Welter Jr in the 85X machine would chase Sr down for win with Don Welter coming in second, followed by Larry Welter, Sr.

The action really heated up in the Super Stock Division as Tommy Ausburn would take the early lead. He was challenged first by a hard charging Brent Cooper, who raced side by side with Ausburn for several laps, then by Larry Welter, Jr for several more laps! Great side by side action for over half the 25 lap feature! Cooper would continue his winning ways in victory lane, with Larry Welter, Jr, Tommy Ausburn and Matt Bastow all coming in the top five.

Not to be outdone the Limited Sportsman charged onto the speedway and Jim Higginbotham took the lead on lap one and led for several laps as Matt Blum, Shelton Bowers and William Edwards challenging each other for the top four! Bowers took second as Blum exited the track with a flat tire, with William Edwards on his tail. Both Bowers and Edwards were able to pass Jim Higginbotham, but he held off the challenge of the 121 of Gordon Cade and Mike McGinty in Shane Bastow’s 04 ride. Bowers would take his third win of the season, William Edwards second and Jim Higginbotham brought home third.

Next Saturday Night the Back to Grassroots Raicing continues but with some extra fun for the kids! KIDS RACE CAR RIDES NEXT SATURDAY NIGHT! That’s right kids, come out next Saturday Night and you can get a free ride around Bronson Motor Speedway in a race car! The action of the Limited Sportsman, Super Stocks, Thunder Stocks and Hornets will take to the Speedway. Adults Admission only $ 10.00 and kids 11-under are FREE!
