Ronnie Heard Jr. Wins Big at Charlotte County

Ron Heard Jr win Sportsman 50 at CCMP By: Melanie Beckner The pits were packed Saturday night at the Charlotte County Motorsports Park with 109 cars ready to take on the 3/8th mile track. The weather was hot and so was the racing.

The first feature of the evening were the Fab 4's with a 3 way battle for the lead for several laps between Logan Leonard, Rose Macho and Mark Davis. Davis would take the checkered flag, but he had jumped the start of the race which resulted him losing a spot and Rose Macho determined the winner. Mark Davis would finish second and Logan Leonard third.

The DeSoto Champ Karts were back for another exciting race. Joey Pierce a United States Marine was on leave from Iraq to race a DeSoto Champ Kart for the first time ever, driving Rance Williams 08 kart. Pierce was doing good until he hit the back straightway wall on lap 6 that ended his evening. Phil Harp won his second race in a row with Rusty Chancey and Chad Dokken completing the top 3. The Briggs heavy and light go carts put on a 10 lap expedition race with the Burns family taking the top 3 spots.

Local pastors took on the track for a 25 lap Faster Pastor race with Gary Gray taking the Victory, Scoot Borden second and Jim Ammerman third. Outlaw Modified seen a 3 way battle for the lead with Robbie Bean ultimately taking the win. Robert Campbell second and Rica Mills third.

The Sportsman 50 was an action packed race with a total of twelve cautions. Lap 1 seen your fast qualifier Anders Jackson climbing on top of Andy Allen's car. Allen would park his car for the evening with Jackson being able to continue. Bill Antecede leads for several laps. Lap 16 would bring out a caution just as their is a three wide battle for the lead. Antecede would continue to lead until lap 21 when Ron Heard Jar takes the lead just as another caution comes out.

Ron Heard Jar would stay their to capture his first victory at COMP. Anders Jackson had to go in and out of the pits a few times to get his car worked on, but he was able to work his way up to the second spot and Joey Barnes was third.

Road Warriors took to the track for their 25 lap feature. Jesse Dutilly cruised to the victory with the second and third place cars battling it out for several laps. Blame Baker brought home second and Chris Scott third.

Pro 4's seen allot of three and four wide battles for propositions Danny Daniels Jr, Michael Rodriguez and Cory Scott battle for the top 3 stops for several laps. As the top three battled back in forth with lap traffic being an issue, it aloud Derrick Horton to get in the mix. At the line Danny Daniels was the winner, Cory Scott second and Derrick Horton third.

The Florida Suncoast Outlaw Street Stocks returned to CCMP for another 50 lap race. The entire field was inverted with the fast cars to the rear and the slower cars in the front. It did not take to long for the faster cars to march their way up front. Only a couple of cautions would wave with Darrin Eliis taking the victory. Vernon Hart Jr and Donnie Ollie Jr were the top 3 finishers.

The final race of the evening were the Real Racin' USA Thunder Trucks. Lance Sober would lead the first lap until Ryan Meiser would get around him. Meiser's truck was on a rail and went on with the victory leaving Randy Kile and Ray Jayne race for second and third spots Randy Kile would go on to finish second and Ray Jayne third.

Next Saturday night will see another full night of racing with Super Late Models, FL Suncoast Outlaw Street stocks, Fast Truck, Fast Kids, Dwarf Cars, TQ Midgets, Real Racin' USA Thunder Trucks, Pro 4, Fab 4', Legends and Bandleros. charlotte County Motorsports Park finishes for 5-3-08
