Weather Shortens Desoto Racing Action
By Rick Anges

Bradenton, Fl. With weather looming on the radar and
eight classes to run the crew at DeSoto Super Speedway
shifted into high gear to tray and get the show in.
The night kicked off with qualifying for the “Hoosier
Cup” All American Challenge Series and the DeSoto Pro
Trucks.

B.J. McLeod top the field with his lap around the
high-banked 3/8’s mile oval, second fast went to David
Pollen Jr. who is running second in the points battle
for the championship. Former Champ “Big Daddy” Dave
Pletcher was third quick followed by points leader
Jeff Scofield who was going for the “Hat Trick” third

DeSoto Pro Trucks

The Pro Trucks rolled out just after intermission for
their fifty-lap feature and with a roll of the die
Bill Manfull started on the poll. Several laps into
the race the rains came brining out the red, parking
the trucks in the infield with just twelve laps in the
books. After trying to wait out the weather the rains
just increased and the races were called.
With only a few weeks left in the season the drivers
were given the option of running a double points
double money race on the their next scheduled race or
calling tonight’s race official. The vote went to the
drivers and with twelve laps in the race was called
official.

AACS

With one race already lost to rain this year the
drivers were gathered in the tech shed for a meeting.
The drivers were asked whether they wanted to run a
double points double money race ($6,000 to win $800 to
start) or run twin 125 races.
After a discussion it was put to a vote which went
dead even. Another discussion and another vote ended
the same way. It then went to a flip of the coin,
heads double points double money tails twin 125's the
coin landed on tails.
So on November 3rd the AACS will be running Twin 125
lap races with the possibility of one driver walking
away with $6,000!!!
In other racing before the rains came:
