The conditions at Hendry County Speedway just keep getting better.
The track was smooth, wide and full of moisture. There was not one visit from the water truck and no dust in sight. The races went fast and clean as Mother Nature threatened us with rain.
This prompted a quick run through the schedule resulting in an early night for all. In less than a three hour show fans got to see the Florida Mini Sprints and a cast of local talent from Mini Stock all the way up to Sportsman.
The Florida Mini Sprint Association returned for the second week in a row. Once again #12 Brittany Frosh out of Melbourne Fl. brings her A game to the track. Winning the first heat race over the #21 Amanda Ferguson. Heat race #2 was Ed Moss Jr. in the #8 car taking the win over Russ Heider in the #86. Trouble early in the feature with #8 having a drive chain break took Moss out of the race. A long green flag run started with Heider in the lead. Soon the #12 car of Frosh got out front and ran consistent 15.00 second laps. With just 3 laps to go, Frosh had developed nearly a half track lead when the caution flew. This tightened up the field and gave one more chance for someone to run down Frosh. This was not gonna happen tonight. Frosh took the win chased by Russ Heider and Amanda Ferguson. David Pleaugh in the #22 4th and #99 Leroy Moore 5th.
Gary Champion(Okee) led the way for the Pure Stocks through the heat race with #9 Brian Morgan (Okee) working his way past Tommy Hill for 2nd place. The track must have suited Morgan's setup perfectly as he held off Champion for the first half of the race, then Hill the second half. That car has really come to life in the past couple of races. Tonight was his first feature win of 2007. Tommy Hill (Clewiston) settled in to the 2nd position. Chad Carver #77 (Clewiston) raced his way past Gary Champion for 3rd. Dennis Lynch (Pt. St. Lucie) took the 5th place honors.

Mini stock racing was top notch. Brian Bail #27 (RPB) had the hook up in the heat race. Taking a win over the #16 of Ron Dubeau (RPB). The #16 car had the lead of a nose to tail battle for the feature win. Much faster than the heat race #18 Jason Intoppa was right on his bumper. Brian bail was also right there for the entire race. The three cars drove a tight clean race in which Intoppa took the lead at lap 8. Carving their way through lapped traffic, no one could get back in front of Intoppa.
Jason Intoppa (WPB)went on to win the 16 lap feature. Dubeau took 2nd place. 3rd place went to Brian Bail. Josh Intoppa (WPB) ran the race in 4th and Ken Tubbs,(Boca) 5th.
Street Sock Division was split into 2 heats. John Wilson (Okee) dominated the first heat with Tommy Messier(Jupiter) 2nd. Jeremy Ferrel took the 7a to victory in heat 2 over Del Powell. The feature was a classic battle between John Wilson and Jesse Brown. The two cars ran side by side for the last 5 laps. Wilson in the high groove was getting into the corners deep to get ahead of Brown. Jesse was better off the corners in the low groove. Wilson had won the race to the line most laps except the one that counts. Jesse Brown(Clewiston) found that little bit of extra bite that gave him a half car dvantage at the finish line. 3rd place went to #20 Billy Griffin(PBG) . Tommy Messier drove to 4th and Jeremy Ferrel (Okee)5th.
Michael Cherry (Valrico) usually has the car to beat in the Sportsman Division. Tonight was no exception. Taking the first heat race easily over #20 Rick Miller (Stuart). Bob Steinmetz #96 had a good handle on the track to win the 2nd heat chased by #73 Travis Drapal. Cherry led every lap of the feature going on to win. Joe Henke #3 battled with Miller for a while. Both cars were pushing up the track hard. After some contact with the wall, Henke backed of giving Miller an easy run at 2nd.
This week Chad Carver (Okee) stepped into David Bratman's #21 and took the car to a 3rd place finish. Henke (Naples)4th and #88 Tom Lusk (Okee)5th.
Bombers were the final event of the night. Rain lurking to the North had everyone hoping to get one more race in these near perfect conditions. Joe Minnitti #20 led the first half of the heat. Then J.R. Fitch #9 (Vero) came along to take the win. Fitch was on a mission to win the feature as well. #26 Steve Deilman was gonna give it a good try to pass him. Contact between the two cars nearly sent Fitch into the turn one wall. Although it did send #26 to the rear of the field on the restart. With no more challenges to be made, Fitch went on to win the feature. Joe Minnitti (Davie) drove hard and held on for 2nd. Deilman (Hialeah) race back through the 9 car field to 3rd. Chip Bache (Davie) #2 was 4th and #101 Carol Vanwagner (Labelle)5th.
I want to thank everyone at the track and all the drivers that helped make this night go fast and smooth. Good track preparation and great driving made for a fun night of racing.
