From: "Rick Warren"
The Florida Mini Stock Challenge Series came to Orlando Speedworld Friday night to do battle for 50 laps. Although the entry list was somewhat smaller than anticipated, the race was not at all lacking for excitement.
Robbie Storer, in the Autoland Dodge was the fastest of the minis in qualifying, with a lap of 15.440 seconds. Chris Thornton drove his Gulf to Bay Enterprises Ford to the second fastest time with a lap of 15.500 seconds. After the top qualifiers cleared tech inspection, Storer pulled a 3 for the inversion, placing Jared Allison on the pole in the DPC entry.
The field lined up for the feature event with Allison and Thornton on the front row, followed by Storer and James Ellis filling the second row. Cody Blair and Chris Zimmerman, two of the series rising young stars, started side by side in row three, followed by Mike Birk and Rex Christensen. The field came to Flagman Derek Molloy’s Green Flag, and the battle began. Allison Powered to the lead, with Storer and Ellis right behind. Thornton slipped to 4th spot from his front row starting position.
The front 4 were having a great race, with a great deal of passing and repassing. Storer kept lots of pressure on Allison, looking to the inside to make a move while Allison kept the door to the bottom groove closed. James Ellis, who finally seems to have gotten the bad luck off of his back, was having a great race with Thornton for the 3rd spot. As the race progressed, the lead pack really began to turn up the wick, and the competition was getting much more intense. Storer was working Allison for all he was worth, and Thornton drove by Ellis and joined the battle for the lead. Storer finally got a run under Allison and the two raced side by side for the lead. Storer finally made the pass for the lead, with Thornton right behind to take second spot.
Storer and Thornton began to open a slight lead over third and fourth spots by the halfway point. By lap 30, Thornton was really turning up the pressure on Storer, battling for the lead. Thornton made a move to the inside of Storer for the lead and the two cars made contact. Thornton fell back with apparent chassis issues while Storer continued to lead. Allison and Ellis continued to chase hard after Storer while Blair and Zimerman were having a battle of their own for the 4th position.

The field was reset for the restart with Storer out front followed by Allison, Ellis, Zimmerman and Thornton. As the race restarted Allison really turned the pressure up. After a hard battle with some paint traded Allison re-took the lead with Storer all over his bumper. Allison went on to hold the lead and grab the win with Storer finishing a close second.
