IT'S TIME TO RACE!!
August 13, 2007
Desoto Foils Mother Nature
By Rick Anges

Bradenton, Fl. With nine features, which included two
powder puff races on the schedule the weather loomed
heavy over the staff and competitors of “The South’s
Fastest Short Track”.

The qualifying for the 100 lap Turner Tree and
Landscape Limited Late Model feature was completed but
as the DeSoto Pro Truck series were attempting to get
their times in the skies opened up sending fans
scattering for cover.

The rains continued for several hours but with help
from the drivers in the pits the track was dried and
the racing was under way just after 9:30 pm.

Manatee Lumber Bombers

“The Punisher” Michael Crooks went old school and hung
it on the outside to take the lead and eventually the
win the in the 25 lap Bomber feature that saw plenty
of three wide, bumpin and bangin racing.

“Radical” Rick Germony held off “the Mayor” John
Stewart for the second spot, fourth went to Scott
Dawley, and in fifth Steve Elder

DeSoto Pro Trucks

At the half way mark of 50-lap truck race the skies
opened up again halting the action on the track. Once
again the persistence of the track crew, the racers
and fans the green flag dropped for the second half of
the Pro Truck series.

Nick King led the way to the checkers holding off
“Hard Chargin” Charlie Montgomery. Finishing third and
fourth was first and second in the points Travis
Roland and Gary Foxworth. Rounding out the top five
was Patrick Staropoli.
