April 1, 2007
JR Prather, Jr. Wins the End of Month Limited Late Models
Special Late Model Race Sponsored by Brandon Ford

By Jason Loughren

It was another great night of racing on The Clay by the Bay tonight as 5 classes took to the track.

The Street Stocks lead off the features tonight as Charles Parish Jr. continued his early season dominance of the class. After a late caution bunched up the field, Paris, Jr. was able to hold off David Strickland for the win. It was Paris, Jr’s third feature win of the season. Tim Spencer came home 3rd. Last week’s feature winner Donnie Reed finished 4th, and Buck Woodhouse rounded out the top 5. Woodhouse and Buck Skinner won the heat races.

The Late Models were in action again as twenty five cars were on hand. Philip Cobb took the feature win starting from the seventh position. Jackie Nosbisch, Jr. started on the pole had a strong car until a caution moved him to the back of the field. The yellow flag flew a few more times and the time limit was looming. A green, white, checkered flag restart was called for on lap 17. Cobb held off Nosbisch, Jr. who had charged from the back to the front in only a few laps. Josh Peacock finished 3rd, Ryan Mitchell was 4th and Marshall Austin came home 5th. KD Kelly, Nosbisch Jr, and JR Prather Jr. won the heat races.

The Limited Late Models hit the track tonight with the End of the Month 20 Lap Special feature sponsored by Brandon Ford. JR Prather, Jr. took the feature win after starting the race in the 15th position. Rich Kessinger who ran near the front of the field all night finished in 2nd place. William Pugh came home 3rd. Steven Johnson and Tim Gay rounded out the top 5. Danny Bowman, Sr. and Bruce Harvey won the heat races.

Chad Rose won his second consecutive feature in the Outlaw 4’s class. Cecil Martin started on the pole and led early until his car broke on lap 5. Alex Boerner had a strong car and was challenging Rose for the lead on the final lap when he slowed coming out of turn 2. Shane Burrows finished 2nd. Micheal Gulvin came home 3rd. Zach Amundson and Harmon Byrd completed the top 5. Boerner and Martin won the heat races.

A full field of 4 Cylinder Bombers were on hand tonight as 25 cars took to the track. Kyle Eash was the car to beat as he started on the pole for the 15 lap feature event. Eash held off the advancing Frank Miller and DB Hogwaller to take his first feature win of the season. Tim Albright finished 4th and Randy Taylor came home 5th. KC Laramee, Eash and BJ Harp placed first in the heat races.

East Bay Raceway Park resumes ASA-sanctioned racing next Saturday at 6:30pm with 5 classes taking to the track. Late Models, Open Wheel Modifieds, Street Stocks, Outlaw 4’s and 4 Cylinder Bombers will take to the track. The Easter Bunny will also be making a special appearance.
