Bradenton, Fl. ”The Rocketman” Wayne Jefferson made it two in a row taking fast time for race number two of the Hoosier Cup All American Challenge Series. “We have the qualifying figured out now we just have to get the race setup” Said Jefferson, “We are trying something different tonight and we hope we are going the right way.” Following Jefferson “Big Daddy” Dave Pletcher took second fast, third was Scot Walters, fourth David Pollen Jr. and fifth Tim Russell.
The die came up a two inverting only the front row.
The green dropped and it was Jefferson out front with Pletcher in the second spot. The race stayed that way for the majority of the 125-lap race but there was plenty of action going on from third on back.
The caution flags were plenty during the course of the event. Ronnie Skipper was one of the victims as a fire under the hood forced him into the infield; the safety crew was right on the scene extinguishing the flames.
J.R.Garcia III also had a run with flames as he grenaded a motor going down the front stretch in a ball if flames that was also quickly put out.
At one time or another there were up to ten drivers competing for the third spot. One of those drivers was Jeff Scofield who started in the seventh spot. Just when it looked like the former AACS two time champion and Sunbelt Series champ was making his move he was caught up when the lapped car of Mike Finn spun in two. Although it appeared there was little or no contact Scofield dove into the infield pits twice causing him to start from the rear of the field both stops.
As the laps wound down though it was apparent that Scofield had not yet thrown n the towel. With ten to go he made he way into the top five. Jefferson continued to hold his line as Scofield closed on his back bumper. With two to go they were side by side.
You couldn’t put a matchbook between the two as they took the white flag. Coming out of turn four Scofield and Jefferson were putting their gas pedals threw the floorboards with Scofield edging out the Rocketman to take his second win in a row in AACS.
“Scofield has been rewriting the record books so it feels really good to race that hard with him” Said Jefferson Behind Jefferson in third was David Pollen Jr., fourth across the stripe was Dave Pletcher and in fifth Scot Walters.
