Robert Campbell Wins Modifieds In Wild Finish At DeSoto

It was a hot summer day but that did not stop the Outlaw Modifieds "Florida's Fastest Four Cylinders" from taking to the track and putting on a fantastic side by side night of racing for the fans at Desoto Speedway.
Early action on lap 2 put Craig Sherar 78 and Bobby Dayton 90 out of the race when the 78 spun in the middle of turn 3. From there on out is was Katie baer the door as these competitive cars went at it to see who was going to be in front.
For most of the race it looked like Raymond "Superfrog" Jones was going to be the King but a late race caution changed the complexity of the race. Following the restart it was a mad dash for Frog as he felt pressure from both Robert Campbell in the Open MRI 10 and Cliff Steinman in the 23 Bradanna car.
The fans were standing on their feet as the three fought it out.
Campbell finally won out passing Froggie for the lead. Cliff Steinman followed Robert through the open door and finished second. This left Jones finishing third.
Mike Endde who has had the Devil's own luck the last several races finished fourth. Mike Bean 12 rounded out the top five. Billie Campbell in the Gulf Coast Tractor and Equipment finished sixth. Phillip Brigham in the CR Designs 7 car finished seventh. Charles Lee 33 had a good run in eighth.
Tom Meyer was mired in traffic and finshed 9th. Newcomer Tom Gidding in only his second appearence this year was tenth. Zack Rudd the contender for Rookie of the Year who was running in the front until he spun out was 11th.
Matt Delaney in the 8 car and last years Rookie of the year was 12th. Ric Voisey in the bright yellow 69 car was lucky 13. Robbie Bean the points leader was fighting new motot blues last night and ended his evening early in 14th.
Craig Sherar 78 was 15th and Bobby Dayton 90 was 16th. Ric Mills lost a cam follower after a great start and retired on lap 2. A special thanks to Myk Lauter for coming out although a wreck in practice left him unable to race.
