Kleiber Still Winning at Punta Gorda

By CLAUDE LEWIS

Scotty Kleiber still has what it takes to win. A former popular Limited Late, Sportsman and Open Wheel Modified hotshoe, Kleiber decided to get away from racing for a few years.

He came back earlier this year and is one of the top guns in the
Modified division at Charlotte County Motorsports Park.

Kleiber took the lead on lap 2 and led the rest of the way in Saturday
nightıs 50-lapper.

The 99 of Sean McLaughlin finished on Kleiberıs rear bumper. Kendrick
Gomez took third.

There were some new names competing like 13-year-old of Dalton Nelson and old names like Phil Morrison and L.B. Skaggs.

Scott McDaniels had a rough night, as he was sent to the rear four
times. The 12 of Eric Rudd and the 34 of Teddy Nelson got tangled up in turn one on lap 28. Both cars had crew members run out onto the track, which caused them both to be disqualified for the night.

There were two other 50-lappers Saturday night at the Punta Gorda paved oval.

In the Road Warrior 50, Dean Burtrum took the lead on lap five and
stayed in front the rest of the way. Behind him, there was a hot battle for the second and third spots. Dan Benoit nosed his way to second, while the 33 of Mike Loney grabbed third ahead of the 93 of Phil Morrison and 19 of Greg Anderson.

The other 50-lapper was in the Outlaw Street Stock division. The 38 of
Robert Crisp was the winner. Darrin Ellis took second and the 09 of Donnie Ollie Jr. was third.

Seventeen Outlaw Modiefieds showed up to race, putting on a good
show with a tight race. Cliff Steinmann took the win, while Robbie Bean captured second place ahead of Doug Hopper.

Ray Jayne dominated Thunder Trucks is his No. 35 Ford. The battle was
going on behind him for the second and third position. Mike Bialecki came across the stripe second, but his 8 truck was disqualifueded in tech. That bumped the 21 of Randy Kile up to second and the 43 of Richard Dupont from fourth to third.

The Modified Mini cars put on a good show, with eight cars gunning 25
laps. The 1 of Joe Gagan took the lead on lap 11 and led the rest of the way. Dean Burtrum finished second and Andy Whitted was third.
