Logan Bordeau wins Advance Auto Parts Pro Truck 50 at New Smyrna Speedway

by Jane Smith

Samsula, FL (Nov. 3, 2007) Twenty one Pro Trucks took the green for the Advance Auto Parts Pro Truck 50 Saturday night at New Smyrna Speedway. Only one truck, Michael Pilla, did not qualify however he did join the field in the rear. Kevin Henry, who has been on a roll in the trucks, set fast time and pulled the 5 pill putting Chad Pierce on the pole for the 50 lap event.

Logan Bordeau took the point over Chad Pierce on the green but it did not take George Gorham, Jr. long before he was on the point followed by Bordeau, Pierce, Hanson, and Henry. As Gorham builds a huge lead over the field, Henry passes Hanson for fourth. But on lap 7, the cautions begin as Jennifer Crossman and Jim Campbell get together in turns 3 and 4. Both are fine and rejoin the field in the rear for the restart.

With a number of restarts for spins here and there, lap 10 sees the worse caution as the leader blows an engine coming around 3 and 4 with Chad Pierce hitting the wall hard after getting in the oil and Kevin Henry getting damage also. The race is red flagged. Pierce is fine but the truck is totalled. Henry gets crew attention on the 99 and is able to rejoin the field after the race goes back yellow and the track has been cleaned. At this point, caution laps are now counted as they were not in the beginning with the last 10 laps green.

Lap 11 sees the restart as Bordeau leads the way over Hanson, Jessica Murphy, Scott Reevse, and Austin Howell. Jennifer Crossman brings out the yellow on lap 15 when she spins joining the field in the rear for the restart. Bordeau holds the point on the restart followed by Hanson, Murphy, Reeves, and Howell.

The yellow comes out again on lap 22 when something seems to break on the 97 of Clinton Clark. Micheal Pilla takes his truck down pit road for some crew attention and rejoins the field for the green as Bordeau leads the way. At this points Howell and Reeves are putting on a great show for the fans as they do some heavy side-by-side racing. Howell takes over fourth as Reeves settles into fifth. Kevin Henry, our fast time qualifier, has made his way back from the rear after suffering damage in lap 10, and passes Ricky Moxley for sixth as Moxley settles into seventh.

Henry is now right on Scott Reeves but Reevse shuts the door. With only once more caution on lap 47 for another blown engine, Bordeau continues to lead the way. Henry makes the pass and takes over fifth as Bordeau takes the win for the Advance Auto Parts Pro Truck 50. Following Bordeau across the checkered was Travis Hanson, Jessica Murphy, Austin Howell, and Kevin Henry.

The next event for the Advance Auto Parts Pro Trucks will be November 24 at New Smyrna Speedway when the trucks will go 100 laps for the Championship.
