Third and Final Leg of the Triple Crown this Saturday, September 1, at USA International

by FASCAR Media

Lakeland, Fla (August 28, 2007) Labor Day weekend is fast approaching. Families will be having picnics and bbq's and wanting to see some great racing. And that is just what is in order for Florida fans this weekend as the third and final leg of the Triple Crown will run at USA International in Lakeland.

Super Late Models and Late Models will fill the pits at USA on Friday as they prepare for Saturday's 200 lap Super Late Model race followed by a 100 lap Late Model race. And yes, the Triple Crown Champion will be crowned Saturday night.

Going into the third leg, the points are as follows:

1 84 Wayne Anderson 76
2 36 Tim Russell 72
3 80 Brian Finney 52
4 59 Dwayne Dempsey 40
5 07 Jeff Scofield 40
6 57 Chad Pierce R 36
7 12x Justin Drawdy 32
8 88 Justin Larson R 24
9 26 Travis Cope R 24
10 88x David Pollen 20
11 94 Wayne Jefferson 16
12 92 Jeff Choquette 12
13 12 Corey Freed R 8
14 4 Blake Lehr R 8
15 9 Kurt Jett R 8
16 22 Dusty Cornelius R 8
17 11 David Rogers 8
18 39 Ryan Sieg R 8
19 40 Brock Burns R 8
20 00 Robert Yoho 8
21 0 JR Garcia R 8
22 22x Perry Brown 4
23 83 David Wilson R 4
24 53 Brad Bischoff R 4
25 61 Jimmy Cope 4
26 14 Travis Towell R 4

As anyone can see, it is basically a points battle between Wayne Anderson of Wildwood and Tim Russell of Longwood who leads the Sunoco Sunbelt Super Late Model Series points. Both Anderson and Russell have won a leg of the Triple Crown with Russell also winning the Florida State Late Model Championship in the second leg.

Saturday's event will also showcase some of the best Late Model drivers in the state with Doug Moff, Rich Clouser, Darren Brown, Chuck Burkhalter, A.J. Curreli, Greg Kaouk, and Joe Winchell just to name a few. These drivers come from all over the state and have one goal in mind, to win at USA International.

Leading the points for the Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series is Doug Moff who has had a stellar year. But not far behind Moff is the 2005 and 2006 Goodyear Challenge Late Model Champion Rich Clouser. Clouser, who teamed with car owner Bobby Sears in 2004, has proven that he can drive anything from a Super Stock to a Late Model.

Third in points for the Goodyear Challenge Late Model Series is Joe Winchell, well known throughout the state of Florida for his driving skills. Fourth in points is Darren Brown who also leads the Rookie points for the Goodyear Series. Brown was the 2006 Late Model Champion at New Smyrna Speedway. Completing the top ten are Justin Larson, Rookie Drew Brannon, Greg Kaouk, Daniel Keene, Jr., Chuck Burkhalter, and another Rookie JR McMickel.
