Clyde Hart Memorial, An Independence Day Tradition

by FASCAR Media

Samsula, Fla. (July 2, 2007) Only two more days until July 4th and the Annual Clyde Hart Memorial 125 at New Smyrna Speedway. The "best of the best" Super Late Models are expected for the annual event that honors longtime owner and friend to all Clyde Hart.

Along with the Clyde Hart Memorial 125 will be the Advance Auto Parts Pro Truck 75 and Southern Sportsman 50. Alot of racing action to help celebrate July 4th.

Tim Russell of Longwood goes into the Clyde Hart Memorial 125 leading the points by 78 over Brian Finney of Merritt Island. Both these racers race hard and both do well at New Smyrna. Only 11 points behind Finney in third is Rookie Chad Pierce of Orlando who is living his dream by racing the Sunbelt Series full time in 2007. Jeff Scofield of Plant City is fourth in points but will not be at the race due to a suspension from the Sunbelt Series which leaves fifth place Corey Freed of Orlando room to move up. Freed is also a Rookie this year.

Sixth and seventh in points are also Rookie this year. Blake Lehr of Titusville and Kurt Jett of Lake City. Eighth in points is Perry Brown follwed by Dusty Cornelius of Cocoa, a Rookie, and David Rogers of Orlando. Rogers knows New Smyrna well and should show the fans a great run.

Behind the wheel of the famous No. 92 Super Late Model, owned by non-other than Dick Anderson, will be 15th in points Jeff Choquette. Choquette won the Bright House Challenge SLM 50 last Saturday at New Smyrna and will definitely give the guys a run for their money. Also expected is James Powell, Justin Drawdy, and Wayne Anderson.

Qualifying for the Clyde Hart Memoiral 125 will begin at 3:30 p.m. with an on-track autograph session at 6 p.m.

Geoge Gorham Jr. leads the points for the Advance Auto Parts Pro Truck Series over Scott Reeves. Reeves, who had a bad accident last year at Lakeland, has done an outstanding comback in 2007. Right behind Reeves in third is Austin Howell followed by Michael Pilla and Kevin Henry. Completing the top ten are Mark Evans, T.J. Chambers, Travis Hanson, Clinton Clark and Jessica Murphy.

Richard Elkins Jr. leads the points for the Southern Sportsman Series. Steve Gainey stands second followed by Joey Catterli, Arthur Conquest, and Ron Heard Jr. Craig Cuzzone stands sixth followed by Mark Pete4rson, Rikk McMehan, Roger Welch, and Derrick Heath. These guys race hard and put on a great show.

So mark your calendar for Wednesday, July 4th, New Smyrna Speedway for plenty of hot, short track racing action.

General admission is $20.00, students and seniors $15.00, children 11 and under FREE. For more information on New Smyrna Speedway go to www.newsmyrnaspeedway.org. For information on the FASCAR Tours go to www.fascartours.com.

Samsula, Fla. (July 4, 2007) The Annual Clyde Hart Memorial 125, Advance Auto Parts Pro Truck 75 and Southern Sportsman 50 has been cancelled due to rain.

"We hate canceling this event," said General Manger Terry Roberts "but the rain is not going to stop and we hate for our drivers and fans to come all the way to New Smyrna only to be turned back because of rain. We have checked all the radars and with 80% rain chance and misting now, we rather stop the fans and drivers from coming now."

The event has not been rescheduled as of yet.
