Last Race Night Buffet a Success
by Jane Smith
The last Race Night Buffet at Giovanni's in Orlando was definitely a success. Three Track Champions were present along with the Champion Open Wheel Modified car owners Debbie and Mike Samples. Food, laughs, and a few jokes were enjoyed by all.
Now, for all those that thought Ricky Wood was leaving us, he is not. Ricky will be around for another year behind the wheel of the Super Late Model #33 and the Open Wheel Modified #81.
R.J. Arnone will once again wheel the No. 30 Mini Stock owned by Rick Bristol. Rick is studying to be a preacher and is unsure where he will be called but for the next year, we should still enjoy his company and his winning car.
Orlando's Super Stock Champion Ted Head looks to move to a different class in 2005 after winning his first championship. Ron Whaley, Super Stock Champion at New Smyrna Speedway, did not announce any plans.
One very nice surprise was Rick Bristol's words about Dick Laszlo who came to the aid of the #30 Mini Stock team when they had motor failure. Dick and R.J. were in a close points battle for second and Dick knew he could lose the second place points by helping R.J. but that did not stop him. Dick Laszlo showed what racing is truly about, sportsmanship and friendship. Hats off to Dick Laszlo for being such a good sportsman.
Giovanni's will be back on board next year in sponsorship for the No. 30 Mini Stock and friends and racers can look forward to more buffets in 2005.
Attending the buffets were my pleasure and a blast to just enjoy each others company. It was a great way to spend a Thursday night with friends.
Happy Holidays to all and see you in 2005.
