Another good field of RE/MAX Legends needed three heats to set the starting grid for the 25 lap feature. Brandon Thomson took the measure of the heat one field while Jeremy Colangelo dominated the second heat. Wesley McLeod outran the field in heat three.
The re-draw of the top two finishers in each heat saw Kory Abbott on the pole for the feature but it was Wesley McLeod who led lap one from the outside pole. Abbott was on the charge and took the lead on lap two closely followed by Thomson, McLeod and Colangelo.
Colangelo was the driver on the move as he took second spot from Thomson on lap ten and set his sights on Abbott.
Six caution flags, all for minor spins or tangles, slowed the pace from time to time but Paddy Rodenbeck's spin on lap 16 was the saving grace for Abbott as Colangelo had just passed him for the lead when the caution was displayed.
Following the restart, Abbott surged to the front again as Colangelo was passed for second by Thomson on lap 18 but Colangelo returned the favor again on lap 22 just before Mike Verhaagh spun to set up a green-white-checker finish.
Abbott held strong to take his first career RE/MAX Legends win. Colangelo, who won for the first time two weeks ago just before Hurricane Jeanne hit the area, grabbed second with Thomson a close third. The three drivers, who are all close friends, shared the spotlight in victory lane together.
Tallahassee driver Stuart Dutton was impressive in his first ever race at Speedworld taking fourth right on the tail of the leaders with Wesley McLeod nabbing fifth spot. Former FASCAR Speedworld Super Late Model champion Ricky Wood made his debut in a new Legends machine coming home sixth while Matt Bowers, Paddy Rodenbeck, and the brother act of Mike Verhaagh and Mitch Verhaagh rounded out the top ten.
Spike Sabo, Wild Willie Wilson, Kyle Dombeck, Brian Silas, Bobby Byars (who hit the wall coming out of turn four on the last lap while running seventh), Derrick Wood, Kevin Howard and Darin Coker completed the finishing field.
There was another first time winner in the Bandelero Bandits division as Blake Eden led every lap for his initial win at Speedworld. Ryan Rust kept the pressure on Eden the entire distance but had to settle for second while Roger Benton, Jr. just held off Donovan Ponder for third at the line.
Scott Jarrett took the measure of the Bandelero Young Guns field leading most of the way to take the win over Brandon Thomson, Chelsea Schillig, Matt Jarrett and Dillon Jones.
Evan Russell led all the way in the Bandolero Outlaw feature to take an easy win over Dave Jarrett and Darin Coker who was driving for Kara Clarke.
The only "Hurricanes" at Speedworld this week were the four cylinder cars with the name nobody wants to mention right now. Bobby Crites took the win in his VW Rabbit over "Weebis the Parts Guy" and Zach Colangelo.
