Conrad Gets Number Eight, Three in a Row for Landis at SpeedWorld
by Dave Westerman

Despite yet another large field, Patrick Conrad continued his dominance of the RE/MAX Legends Car Series at Orlando Speedworld Saturday night taking his eighth win of the season in nine starts.

Conrad led most of the way in the 25 lapper while the battle this week was behind him featuring the Abbott brothers, Kevin and Kory and Sam Watts.

The top four were well in front of the rest of the field when both Abbott brothers and Watts performed an almost choreographed triple spin coming out of turn two just before the half way mark of the race.

Amazingly, all three kept going with no caution flag needed and the only driver to lose a spot on the track was Watts and he quickly made that up.

The spin did cause a problem for Kory Abbott as a rear support had been damaged and it broke five laps later sending him to the pits for the night and bringing out a yellow flag that gave the field one last shot at Conrad. However Conrad was easily up to the challenge and he took the win over Kevin Abbott, Watts, Jordan Richardson, and Jeff Deggeller, the rookie Masters driver who continues to get better and better every week.

Wesley McLeod, Brandon Thomson, Mike Verhaagh, Jared Cawley and Derrick Wood rounded out the top ten. Twenty-one cars were entered.

Mike Landis continued to dominate the Modified Lites taking his third straight checkered flag with his brother George Landis finishing second for the third consecutive time here. Zane Davis came home third ahead of Stan Hope and Bill Burback.

On the other hand, there was a new winner in the Pro Challenge Class as 2003 champion Howard Brennan took home the checker ahead of Rod Sanders, Ken Watts, Mark David and Tyler David.

Josh Williams ended Gerald White Jr.'s big win streak by taking the win in the Bandelero Bandits. White was second ahead of North Carolina's Cole Miktuk, Blake Eden and Chad Akins.

Chelsea Schillig and her big smile were back in victory lane after the Bandelero Young Guns feature for her third win of the year. The Jarrett brothers, Scott and Matthew were second and third trailed by Nick Wesenik and Kara Clarke. Evan Russell was the top finishing Bandelero Outlaw.

Bobby Crites wrapped up the evening by taking his second Hurricane win of the year in his Volkswagen Rabbit. Adam Soukup crossed the line second and was allowed to keep his trophy although he was asked not to bring the car back because of a technical violation. Sly Cawley, William Hindman and Michael Bass rounded out the top five.
