IT'S TIME TO RACE!!
March 7, 2004
Gill wins FASTRUCKS at Bronson Motor Speedway
Rick Bristol

Orlando Fl. - The end of the first winter heat series in FASTRUCK history ended with two young champions.

Rain showers in the area and a season opener at USA International in a couple weeks made for lower truck count than expected but the excitement was still a plenty.

The FASTKIDS would race first in there 25 lap main event. Eight contenders would start this event the most since they began FASTKIDS.

Matt Martin who set fast time would start from the pole in his #66 entry. Along side of him would be Dalton Zehr who would compete in both divisions on the night. David Pollen Jr., who would also do double duty, was a championship contender with Matt Martin and would start right behind him in the third spot.

Before lap one could be completed a spin by Amanda Gogle would set up a complete restart. Several more single spins would delay the start but finally the race would go green and from there was some great action including the lead duel between Martin and Pollen Jr.

Dalton Zehr and Josh Crenshaw battled for the third and fourth spot as well.

The late laps would see Martin working lap traffic and Pollen Jr. had a couple of shots at the lead but Martin was up to the challenge. It looked like it was a lock but on the last lap coming off turn four Martin lost his # 66 and spun as Pollen Jr. slipped by to take the checkered flag.

Crenshaw was also caught up in the incident and would be dropped from fourth to sixth. Dalton Zehr made it through to take second as Martin alertly refired and crossed the stripe in the third spot.

David Pollen Jr. celebrated the win of the nights event but with a heads up move to get across in the third spot Matt Martin was crowned the FASTKIDS ASA Winterheat Champion in front of a great Bronson Speedway crowd.

FASTRUCKS would take to the track next with quick qualifier Jimmy Gill starting on the pole. Gill would lead every lap for the win but did have to fight off the challenges a couple of times from George Morales.

Morales had his hands full of Sean Bass and Dalton Zehr. They would all battle hard to the wire as Gill took the win

" My dad always told me if you start from the pole you had better win ! The truck was perfect tonight here at Bronson." said Gill in victory lane. George Morales would cross the stripe second with Sean Bass third after another solid finish. Dalton Zehr would wind up fourth and Travis Nichols rounded out the top 5.

After the points were tallied it was announced that 15 year old David Pollen Jr. was the FASTRUCK ASA Winter Heat Champion he will receive $1000.00 for his efforts.

" Wow what a great night" said Pollen Jr. " a win and the championship this is great."

The first event for the 2004 FASTRUCK Series will be March 27th at the USA International as part of the ASA Season opening event weekend.A huge field of FASTRUCKS will be on hand for that one.
