September 9, 2008 Drivers Injured in Weekend Racing Incidents KARNAC Media Two drivers sustained injuries requiring transport to hospitals over the weekend. The worst incident involved race car driver Mike Corcoran of Holly Hill, Fl. He was seriously injured Saturday night while racing in the 4 Cylinder Pure Stocks at Volusia Speedway Park. He wrecked as the race concluded the final lap of the feature, his car rolling several times, according to eyewitnesses. The car sustained major structural damage. The driver driver was transported to a local hospital where he remains in critical condition. On Friday night at Ocala Speedway, sprint car driver Jeff Parks was injured while racing in the Central Florida Sprint Car Challenge. Parks was taken to an area hospital. The speedway reported early Saturday morning, "Parks stated to the first Ocala Speedway crews on the scene that he thought he may have seriously hurt his neck or back, so every precaution was taken to assure that any injury was not aggravated in removing him from the damaged car."
