George Gorham Three for Four in Truck Series | By Racers-Image
LAKELAND, FL - George Gorham Jr. wins race number three out of his four starts in the Advance Auto Parts FASCAR ProTruck Series at Columbia Motorsports Park Saturday night. The #10 Strutmasters.com /Bedrock Cafe sponsored Chevy Silverado Team is on a roll leading the Championship Points battle since his season opening win at USA Speedway in Lakeland, Florida.
Post qualifying, a confident Gorham Jr. stated, "We came here to win, we have won here before and I was fastest in practice. I over drove the truck going for the pole on the first lap in qualifying but the second lap was a 19.09 just 1/100th of a second behind the pole winner. We will start from the third spot and just go to the front from there."
And go is just what he did. The slick #10 ProTruck was in the lead by lap 2 and paced the field until the big mishap on lap 50. The truck had damage to the nose, front suspension and windshield after getting hit by one of the spinning competitors. The spotter, Rich Reinhardt came on the radio and said, "The tires look up and it is not loosing water, it will be a green, white, checker." The radio crackled back with an agitated Gorham Jr. saying, "The toe is knocked out………..OK, .OK, I'm going for it, bring it on!"

The last lap melee caused at least six trucks to spin on the fast 1/2 mile oval setting up a Green, White, and Checker dash to the finish. After a lengthy yellow to get the track cleared it was time to get back to action. As the leader Gorham Jr. brought the field around to the green, "Go, go!" yelled Reinhardt as soon as the flag unfurled. The #10 Strutmasters.com Chevy looked like a handful to drive as he threw it in to turn one. With skill and determination Gorham Jr. drove the now ill handling machine for the last 2 grueling laps. "Yeah, that's what I'm talking about!" He screamed over the radio as he flew under the checked flag.
After the cool down lap and finishing off the rest of the rubber left on those rear tires in celebration to the cheering fans, George Gorham Jr. climbed from his smoke filled truck holding the checkered flag and said "śWe wanted this win and have stretched our points lead tonight. Man I'll tell you what, that was a heck of a race. Those boys out there did everything they could to try to stop our Strutmasters.com Chevy from getting the win tonight. The second place driver drove straight into the back of us going in to turn 3 on the last lap. The truck was handling great and I was driving in deeper then everyone all night, he must have lost his brakes or something."
"I want to thank my whole crew and sponsors Strutmasters.com and Bedrock Cafe for all their support, I couldn't do it without them."
