IT'S TIME TO RACE!!
March 31, 2008

David Wilson Continues Hot Hand At DeSoto Speedway

By Phil Schryver

Desoto Super Speedway had their 3rd Hoosier AACS Super Late Model 125 Lap event. Jeff Choquette was the fast time qualifier and started the race 3rd after the inversion.

17 cars started the race with Steve Dorer from Lakeland on the pole. On the wave of the green flag David Wilson jumped out front to take the lead.

The first caution came out on lap 6 when the 40 car got loose and spun out coming out of turn 4.

By lap 30, there was a big battle going on between Choquette, Dorer, and Scofield. Choquette was able to sneak by Dorer for 2nd while David Wilson was pulling away from the rest of the field.

Lap 69 brought out the 7th caution of the night when Steve Dorer and Anthony Campi had a battle going for 4th place and spun out between turns 3 and 4. That had to of made the 07 of Jeff Scofield very happy as Wilson and Choquette had over a 1 ½ second lead on him at the time.
After the restart, the 81x of Anthony Campi charged to the outside of David Pollen in the 88 and the 10 of Steve Dorer to take over the 4th spot.

Around lap 90, the leaders were having to deal with lapped traffic, David Wilson made it through with ease and was able to gain some additional ground on Scofield and Choquette.

On lap 93, the 81x of Campi was working on the back bumper Dorer for 4th place and Dorer spun bringing out the 8th caution of the night. Both cars were sent to the rear of the field.

Some of the best action of the race happened during the last 10 laps when the 07 of Scofield and the 70 of Choquette were banging door to door for second. By this time, Wilson had almost a 3 second lead on them.

Near the end, Choquette’s tires finally gave out. Both Scofield and Pollen were able to get by.

In his post-race interview David said the car was getting real tight and kept trying different racing grooves to stay ahead of Scofield and Choquette.
