Florida Mini Sprint Association Crowns 3- Time Champion Jesse Teed



The Florida Mini Sprint Association final 2002 Dirt Series Points race was Saturday night at Thundercross Motorsports Complex. The points battle was close between the top (4) cars in points.

The 1st. heat race started out with the #2 of Steve Crabtree leading the pack till the last lap when the #71 of John Craddock passed Steve on the outside to take the win. Russ Heider would finish a close third with the #6 of Mike Schroeder finishing fourth and the #9 of Steve Cole rounding out the top five.

The 2nd. Heat race began with the #7 of Jesse Teed taking the point and would go on to win the heat race with the #19 of Ryan Thomas in second just in front of the #24 of Tom Blackburn in third.

The Feature event would have a caution on the start of the race as the #32 and #19 tangled up in the first turn. Steve Crabtree driving the #2 car owned by Doug Craig took the lead with the #33 of Tom Wilson in 2nd. Till Tom Wilson had trouble and would pull off the track. Steve would go on to lead until lap 11 when the #86 of Russ Heider drove through the field to take the lead. Russ went away with the lead until the #71 of John Craddock would make the pass on lap 16.John Craddock would go on to win at Thundercross for the 3rd. time this year with car owner Don McCalligan of D&K Motorsports.Ryan Thomas driving the #19 sponsored by Durden Surveying would finish 2nd. With the #7 of Jesse Teed finishing 3rd. in the race. Steve Crabtree went on to finish fourth with the #24 of Tom Blackburn passing the #6 of Mike Schroeder to take the fifth spot.

The night would be celebrated with the #7 of Jesse Teed taking the 2002 Dirt Series Points Championship for the 3rd. time in a row (2000,01,02).
