Released just a few days ago, the 2009 version of the very exciting brand of dirt late model racing created by Kinney will step up the pace set this year. The schedule features 20 events across three states, at thirteen different facilities including one asphalt race and several combined sanctioned events with the National Late Model Series. Devon Dixon Wins Fall Brawl Modified Slugfest
|
by BJ Cavin
Cool weather greeted a huge crowd at Ocala Speedway on Friday night as fans gathered to witness the Annual Fall Brawl for Open Wheel Modifieds. What the fans got was more excitement that many had planned on seeing, and four races where nothing went as expected. In fact, even sure bets often failed to seal the deal at the last minute, giving the night's racing an unpredictability that kept everyone quessing.
With $1500 destined to go to the winner of the Open Wheel Modified event, it was certain that some intense action was going to figure into the equation. The race was nicknamed the Fall Brawl, and a brawl is exactly what it became. Four heats and a B main race set the field of 24 that went at it for the big money, and as the feature event began it bec...

By Bill Green
After thirty plus years of racing in the Tampa Bay area, Keith Nosbisch has accomplished a lot in the sport. He holds over 750 feature wins and 10 championships from tracks and series across the south. At 52 years young, Nosbisch still competes full time in the United Dirt Late Model Challenge Series where he is currently third in the national points race. "After so many years of racing, I had been kind of winding down the last few," said the Valrico based racer known as The Catfish. "But when Bubba called and said he wanted to go late model racing, I thought this might be perfect timing. I could coach someone else in the late models I know so well, plus I could ...

|
by Jane Smith
Lake City, FL (September 22, 2008) The Noritz/Tempaco Sunbelt Super Late Models take centerstage this Saturday night at Columbia Motorsports Park. With two previous races rained out at Columbia, hopefully the third time will be the charm for the Super Late Models.
Leading the points for the Noritz/Tempaco Sunbelt Super Late Model Series is Jeremy Colangelo. Although Colangelo has not yet won his first Sunbelt race, that win is just around the corner.
Jeff Choquette won the first race on Apri 26 at New Smyrna Speedway. It was second in points Matt Bowers who topped race number two at Orlando SpeedWorld on May 9. Brian Finney won race number 3 at USA International on June 7 with Wayne Anderson taking home the Clyde Hart Memorial on July 3. And...

Herb and George Neumann take Division Wins at Citrus County Speedway
|
by Larry MacMillan
(Inverness, Fl. 9/20/08) Seven regular divisions, the visiting Florida T.Q. Midgets and three young men put on a wild 10 minute drifting exhibition for the fans during intermission that kept the fans entertained all evening long. With only 6 more regular race nights left in the season every one is important to any of the drivers in the race for top 10 positions and a championship.
Herb Neumann Jr. is working hard to pick up another championship crown, putting some cushion in his run for the crown with his 4th win of the season from his 10th starting spot over the 13 car field. Scott Millar had the field pretty well covered from his outside pole position and led the field for most of the race while Neumann methodically picked his way through traffic t...

Chris Thornton wins Modified Mini 50 Lapper at Desoto Super Speedway
|
By Tom Blakeley
(September 20, 2008 Bradenton, Florida) It was another night of racing excitement at Desoto Super Speedway. The lineup started with a bang when the Street Stock class took to the track first. Going to Victory circle was James Nanney in the #6 car. Alex Abbott in the #17 car was 2nd, and Jonathan Heidenthal in the #27X car was 3rd. Along with the hot Florida nights, comes even hotter tempers. Casey Hall in the #11 car and Charles “Chucky” Ramsey in the #99 car got cross wise with each other on the track and it carried over into the pits after the race. The end result was a disqualification of #99 car and Charles Ramsey for fighting. The drama alone was well worth the price of admission.
Pure Stocks were next on the agenda. This class always has the fa...

Checkered Flag Sprints Thrill Charlotte Fans
|
By Curtis Whalin
The Checkered Flag Sprint Series (CFSS) returned to Charlotte County Motorsports Park on Saturday September 20. A car count of 18 set them up for 3 heat races and a 30 lap feature.
Each heat race had six cars in it. Third place was apparently the best place to start the heat race, as each of the heats was won by the car that started in third position. Scott Adema in the 22 took the first heat, David Slawiak in the 79 car claimed the second heat and Bryan Riddle in the 11X took the third.
Just before 8pm, all of the cars were pushed onto the front straightway for an autograph session before the start of the feature race. About 10 minutes into the session, a tr...
