Noise for Toys - Two Events Charlotte and Lee County

by Robin Miller

Last holiday season, an event took place in the small town of Lehigh Acres for the first time, although several events had been held several years back.

The local racing community sponsored it and it was called Noise for Toys. Over 50 local racers participated and over 1000 people attended the event. On display were stock cars, AMA drag bikes, dragsters, Pro Monster Trucks, swamp buggies, NASGRASS racing lawnmowers, show cars and motorcycles.

In was held at Wal-Mart on Lee Boulevard in Lehigh Acres and before the evening was through, Randy Fox's race car hauler was filled with toys for 300 children; the truck of a Cadillac was overflowing with food; and $300 in cash was raised. Santa even made a visit, riding in on a racing lawnmower. It was a roaring success and the racers vowed to make it even bigger this year. Unfortunately, many of the people involved in putting on the event last year, have had a very busy year and it wasn't until last week that the final decision was made to have another event this year.

The Second Annual Noise for Toys event will be held again at Wal-Mart Super Center on Friday, December 13 from 6-9 p.m. Area racers are asked to please bring yourselves and your racing vehicles to the event. Area residents are asked to please open your hearts and your wallets by bringing an unwrapped toy, canned food, monetary donations, and children's clothing to the event.

If you just decide to stop on the spur of the moment, that's fine too because our local Wal-Mart has a vast selection of toys and the biggest grocery section in the area. For more information on the Noise for Toys event, please call Randy Fox Inc. at 369-0300 or myself at 369-6999.

The Southwest Florida racing community believes so strongly in providing our children with a wonderful holiday that a second Noise for Toys event will be taking place in Charlotte County at the Toys R Us parking lot in Murdock near the Town Center Mall.

Their event will take place on Saturday, December 7 from 6-9 p.m. as well and will benefit the children of Charlotte County. It will be hosted by Charlotte County Speedway owner/promoter Leroy Davidson, who is the person who started the Noise for Toys events over ten years ago.

Their event will be on the day of the Christmas Parade and several stock cars will be featured in the parade as well. For more information on the Charlotte County event, call the speedway at 941/ 575-RACE.

The beneficiaries from the two Noise for Toys events will be the children of Southwest Florida. There is an old saying, "It takes a village to raise a child." Our racing family is known throughout the area for its commitment to its children. Let's show everyone how seriously our village takes its commitment and come out in full force for these worth events.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!!!
