Octoberfest 2002 Results from Volusia Speedway Park

VSP's Octoberfest 2002 "Outlaw Thunder" started with
Heinz Haas #57 winning the Pure Stock feature. Heinz
led the 3 caution flagged feature from start to finish.
On lap 15, Ray Hunter #79 passed the leader but a
caution flag thrown for John Blood #88 put a quick stop
to his charge. Shawn Pawlak #75 and Steve Buker #37
placed a solid 2nd and 5th position after both had been
involved in a car demolishing crashes weeks earler.
Top 10: 1) Heinz Haas 2) Shawn Pawlak 3) John Blood
4) Chris Heaney 5) Steve Buker 6) Jerry Theel 7) Joe
Epton 8) Rodney Wright 9) Ray Hunter 10) Rita Daugherty.

Scotty Williams #27 won his first Mini Stock 30 Lap
feature at VSP. Scotty whow as born deaf showed no
fear in his quest for the lead. He passed Joey
Haslauer #27 on lap 4 and held on tight till the
checkered flag. Mark Eldridge #22 put the pressure on
Scotty during lap 20 only to have his efforts dashed
by motor problems. Hard charging Matt Cawood #6 battled
his way from last position to 2nd. Jackie Rhames #97
avoided the cautions to come from the back of the pack
to 3rd. Top 10: 1) Scotty Williams 2) Matt Cawood
3) Jackie Rhames 4) Ryan Vansickle 5) Mike Cawood
6) Stanton Mills 7) Joey Haslauer 8) Lance Lee 9) Dan
Paterniti 10) Michael Basfield.

The USCS winged outlaw Sprints roared into VSP. Greg
Wilson #63 of Findlay, Ohio took fast qualifer with
14.85 2) Jason Sides #7 (Bartlett, TN) 15.11 3) Sport
Allen #88 (Largo, FL) 15.31 4) Johnny Bridges #07
(Cherryville,SC) 15.32 5)Jim Raptis #77 (Marietta, Ga)
15.33 Greg Wilson #63 dominated the A Main on Saturday
from the green flag to the checkered, lapping slower cars
by lap 2. Jason Sides #7 and Sport Allen #88 couldn't
get near Wilson as he flew through the field without
looking back.
