Tim Edmundson Wins 25 Lap Strictly Stock Feature at NSS

by Jane Smith

Samsula, Fla - With no Super Lates or Late Models at
New Smyrna Speedway due to the Octoberfest at
Lakeland's USA International Speedway, there was still
plenty of racing action for the fans.

Heats and features were run in the Mini Stocks, Super
Stocks, Sportsman, and Modifieds with a 25 lap special
for the Strictly Stock division.

David Castello #1, points leader in the Mini Stock
division, sat on the pole and lead the caution free
race for the first 19 laps. But a mistake that
happens to even the best of us, cost him the win
when the move-over flag and white flag were thrown
on the 19th lap. But Castello still finsihed third
after the mistake.

Jared Allison had Pedie's new #5 Mini Stock at New
Smyrna shaking it down for Pedie's first race next
week at Orlando SpeedWorld. Allison had worked his
way to the fourth place position when he had
mechanical problems and had to retire to the pits.

Ted "Mr Mini Stock" Vulipus #71, starting from the
rear of the field due to his win last week, did a
good job of coming to the front passing second place
runner Tim "Missileman" McPhail and setting his eyes
on Castello. He was not able to reel in the points
leader until after the mistaken flag.

Vulipus took the win followed by #7 Tim "Missileman"
McPhail, #1 David Castello, #07 Dick Lazslo, #36 Whit
Satterwhite, #v3 Rex Christensen, #0 Vern Rozier, #00
Mike Sible, #33 Bob Delmastro,#14 Katherine Thomas,
#38 Ben Hutto and #5 Jared Allison.

David Castello and Tim McPhail took the heat wins.

Mark Vandevender #7 sat on the pole for the Modified
feature but it was the #2x Bobby Blake who took the
point and lead green to checkers.

Another caution free race with a good second place run
by #3 Wayne Parker, #7 Mark Vandevender, #4b Allen
Bruns, #88 Paul Duncan, #20 Ed Kuhel, #56 Ken McCracken,
and #16 David Lebeau.

Mark Vandevender took the heat win.

Ron Lufcy #07 sat on the pole for the Sportsman division
but it was the #1 Steve Redditt who took the lead on the
green. Lap 2 saw a caution come out for debris on the
track but Redditt was able to take the point again on
the restart.

Mike Trocki #46 took over the lead after passing Redditt
and did a good job of fending off Donnie Williams #111
but in the end, Williams won the number one spot.

John Nusbaum brought out the caution on lap 16 and lap
18 for a spin but each time on the restart, Williams
took the point.

Following Williams across the checkers was #46 Mike
Trocki, #07 Ron Lufcy, #28 Chris Peludant, #1 Steve
Redditt, #2 Bill Love, #55 Jim Snyder, #70 John
Nusbaum, #007 James Wright III, #30 Dale Clouser,
and #62 Randy Hecker.

Donnie Williams took the heat win.

Bob Bell #16 sat on the pole for the Super Stock feature
and was able to jump to the lead for the first 3 laps
until he spun in turns l and 2 giving the lead over to
Ron Whaley #2. Whaley did a good job holding off #21
Josh Wronkowski and #61 Ted Helmes.

On lap 11, Leon Foy #47 and Bob Bell tangle between
turns l and2 bringing out the caution. Once again
Whaley takes the point with Helmes right on his back
bumper. But Whaley was able to keep the lead and take
the win followed by #61 Ted Helmes, #45 Mike Soukup,
#3 Jeff Colburn, #21 Josh Wronkowski, #38 Randy Jones,
#91 Alan Dillon, #47 Leon Foy, #16 Bob Bell and #50
Stephen Demensky.

It took three starts before the Strictly Stock 25 lap
feature ever got one lap down in the books. Tim
Edmundson #66 took the point followed closely by James
Smith Sr. #65s. Alot of swapping places in the top
five but Edmundson was able to hold the point and take
the checkers.

Lap 18 and 20 both saw the caution flag come out but
Edmundson was on a mission to win the 25 lap feature.
Following Edmundson to the checkers was #65 James Smith,
#91 Todd Driscall, #58, #65s James Smith Sr., #8 Ferris
Crews and Rusty Boyer #94.

Next week, 10/26, DOUBLE POINTS night at New Smyrna
Speedway for all divisions plus PRO MODIFIED TOUR
50.

Also drivers, please bring a bag of candy for Trick or
Trest for the kids. HAPPY HALLOWEEN
