Mike Pitts Street Stock Winner At Auburndale

By Billie May

With 8 events scheduled for the night at Auburndale all classes put on a good show with the Pitts Family, Storer Family, and Williamson Family being the headlines in most of the classes. We had 2 scheduled events other than the regular classes which were Kids Club and the Lakeland Auto Salvage Demo-Derby, plus we had a 6 lap Da$h for Ca$h for the V-8 Street Stocks which were voted in by the fans who purchased racing photos from Bill Hunt the Track Photographer.

The Da$h for Ca$h was a good race with 6 drivers taking the green which were: # 40 Mike Pitts, # 68 Mike Wilson, # 99 Jason Deaton, # 29 Rodney Richardson, # 51 Mark Lowe, and # 21 Chris Narramore Jr. On the 1st start Pitts and Wilson get together with Pitts spinning bringing them back to a complete restart, when the green came out again Wilson stayed on the outside battling for the lead for a lap then Deaton got to the inside of Wilson for 2nd and Mark Lowe running in the 4th spot, single file racing with just a couple laps to go and Mike Pitts takes the $100 1st prize, Mike Wilson gets $50 for 2nd, Jason Deaton and Mark Lowe get $25 for 3rd and 4th, Chris Narramore was 5th and Rodney Richardson came in 6th. Mike Pitts will also recieve a clock with his photo on it for winning the Dash for Cash. All drivers would like to extend thier thanks to Bill Hunt for this race he sponsored.

Kids Club put on a good show as always with the Seniors taking the green first, # 36 Laura Weaver and # 97 Craig Cuzzone were side-by-side for the lead with Weaver getting it but coming out of turn four Cuzzone gets under Weaver and they rub alittle with Cuzzone getting the lead at the line, # 2 Orrin Wright running 3rd , Craig Cuzzone takes the win, Laura Weaver 2nd and Orrin Wright comes home 3rd.

Juniors were next up with # 18 Gregory Harris leading from start to finish, # 01 Casey Howell 2nd, # 29 Matthew Cummins takes it to the outside of # 58 Pamela Weaver and Howell to move up to the 2nd spot, # 26 Brandi Stifle goes around Howell for 3rd and Weaver moves up to the 5th spot making a pass on Howell, but Gregory Harris had no challenges for the lead and took the win, Matthew Cummins comes home 2nd and Brandi Stifle finishes 3rd. 4-58 Pamela Weaver 5-01 Casey Howell

With it being a holiday weekend that made the Novice class smaller than usual with people away for the weekend so they ran 1 Novice race, # 7 Brittney Pitts started on the pole and took the lead on the start # 88 Justin Haranda running 2nd, and # 20 Megan Patton 3rd, # 00 Devan Fair was on the move and passed # 99 Brandon McSwain and Patton to move up to the 3rd spot # 63 Johnny Gamble got under Haranda for the 3rd position and # 06 Favian Hunter went to the outside of Haranda for 4th, # 43 Brett Jenkins follows to 5th, but Brittney Pitts making it a Family affair runs away with the win, Devan Fair finishes 2nd with Johnny Gamble comes home 3rd.

V-8 Street Stocks had 14 cars to get the green flag with # 21 Chris Narramore on the pole but # 40 Mike Pitts starting from the outside pole gets the lead # 38 Jason Stifle goes high and Narramore gets under him for the 2nd spot but they have a complete restart after a car goes up against the wall in turn 2 after losing his drive shaft, under the caution for track clean up # 68 Mike Wilson pulls into the pits. On the restart Pitts gets the lead again, Narramore 2nd, Stifle running 3rd, # 08 Daniel Clough 4th and # 99 Jason Deaton 5th, single file racing for several laps with 5 laps to go no changes in the top 5 # 51 Mark Lowe pulled in due to mechanical problems, Narramore putting pressure on Pitts for the lead but can't get a break and Deaton gets under Clough for the 4th spot, but Mike Pitts keeps the Family affair going and takes his 2nd win of the night, Chris Narramore 2nd and Jason Stifle brings his # 38 in for 3rd.

Mini-Stocks had # 58 Wayne Weaver on the pole and taking the lead on the start # 01 Donnie Howell 2nd, # 90 Randy Storer running 3rd but gets under Howell for the 2nd spot with 1 lap in the caution comes out for # 5 Chris Palmer and # 99 Jamie Kennedy get together and Kennedy spun on the frontstretch. Restart top 5 were Weaver, Randy Storer, Howell, Palmer, and # 67 Bo Davis, with racing underway # 9 Robbie Storer passed Davis, Palmer and Howell in 1 lap moving him up to 3rd # 15 Bob Storer gets under Davis and Howell to move up to 5th meanwhile Robbie Storer gets around Randy Storer for 2nd and then under Weaver for the lead, Bob Storer moves up to 4th under Palmer and passes his Brother Randy for the 3rd spot, lap 12 Kennedy pulls in with mechanical troubles, and on the last lap Chris Palmer running 5th pulls in a lap to early giving Bo Davis the 5th spot, but again Robbie Storer takes the win, with Wayne Weaver 2nd and Robbie's Dad Bob Storer finishing 3rd giving the Storer Family 3 out of the top 5 spots.

LLM get warm up laps before their race and during the warm up laps # 00 Ronnie Heard blows a motor but no one else was collected up in it, mainly being water that was put on the track, on the start # 65 Ollie Harbin and # 01 Bryan Storer exchange some paint coming out of turn 4 with Storer taking the lead # 71 Dave Dunkin running 2nd, # 55 Richard Elkins 3rd Harbin back to the 4th spot, with some single file racing # 25 Billy Norris brings out a caution after spinning. Racing resumes then # 1 Bart Weatherford spins bringing out another caution flag, under the caution # 5 Jason Bennett pulls in. Restart with alot of cars getting very loose coming out of the corners they check all the cars and # 63 Wesley Bass was putting fluid down and had to go in for a quick fix and was back out for the restart, with 10 laps to go # 45 Kevin Ingram got under # 46 Tommy Caveney for 6th and Dunkin gets under Storer coming out of turn 2 and takes the lead with Elkins Jr. following to 2nd, with 5 laps to go Harbin and # 54 Steve Black spin in turn 2 bringing out the last caution, Harbin starts in the 4th spot on the restart, the top 3 stayed the same and Dave Dunkin takes another victory with Richard Elkins Jr. 2nd, and Bryan Storer keeping the Family streak going finishes 3rd.

The 4-Cyls for the 2nd week in a row had a disqualification changing the finishing order of their race. Eugene Davidson # 53 took the lead with # 43 Kevin Lumely 2nd, and # 95 Reggie Ware running 3rd # 41 David Howard got under # 63 Steve Johnson for the 4th spot, meanwhile the leader Davidson drops off the pace handing the lead to Lumley, meanwhile # 4 Matt Carroll and # 54 Jimmy Smith both spin in turns 3 and 4 bringing out the caution, Carroll loses his nose piece and Smith goes to the pits on the wrecker. Restart # 1 David Jouppi and # 96 Larry Chumney II go around Ware for 2nd and 3rd spots and # 3 Terry Jones follows to the 4th spot, Chumney got around Jouppi for 2nd with 1 lap to go Johnson stalls on the track bringing out the last caution, while under caution Chumney running 2nd pulls in with mechanical problems. With 1 lap to go Kevin Lumley takes the win, David Jouppi 2nd and Terry Jones 3rd. After post race inspections in tech # 43 Kevin Lumley was dqed for not tearing down giving David Jouppi the win, Terry Jones 2nd and moving # 27 Wayne Guy into the top 3.

Super Stocks had 2 fast guys on the front row, # 2 Paul Gibbs and # 34 Jeff McCaw bringing them to the green they were side-by-side for a couple laps but McCaw slips alittle and Gibbs gets the advantage for the lead, # 13 Aaron Williamson gets under McCaw for 2nd dropping McCaw to 3rd, top 5 were Gibbs, A. Williamson, McCaw, # 9 Jimmy Castleberry, and # 16 R.J. Williams, Gibbs while leading loses his right rear axle and tire going into turn 1 handing the lead to Aaron Williamson. On the restart A. Lakeland Auto Salvage Demo-Derby had 13 cars trying to avoid the mud and get good hits in, with 1 catching fire the derby had to be red flagged briefly but then the banging was underway again, with the top 2 cars taking home some money which were # 911 Robert Kissam winning and # 686 Charles Brower 2nd.
