Allen Craig Wins Florida Mini Sprint Feature at Volusia

Florida Mini Sprints came back to Volusia Speedway
Park on Saturday to give the fans lots of fast side-
by-side racing with a wide blue-groove track.

The lst heat started out with #42 John Craddock
taking the lead after cutting down on #19 Ryan
Thomas. John Craddock would go on to win the lst.
heat with #33 Tom Wilson 2nd and #55 Allen Craig
would come back from almost spinning out in lap
one to finish 3rd.

The 2nd heat started out with the #2 of Steve
Crabtree and #24 Tom Blackburn starting on
the pole and would go into turn 1 side-by-side
with #7 Jesse Teed taking the high line to pass
both for them coming out of turn 2 and would go
on to win the first heat. Steve Crabtree would
end up finishing 2nd. And the #6 of Mike Schroeder
rounding out the top three.

The 20 lap feature started with a salute to the fans
with a four-a-breast parade lap. Ed James #46 of
Macon, Georgia would start on the pole to lead the
17-car field. The #46 would take the lead but a
yellow would come out afterlap one with the #38 of
Gary Mincey getting tapped from behind by #86 of
Russ Heider and would collect the wall in turn 2.
Ed James would lead for a few laps till the #7
Jesse Teed made a pass on the inside of turn four
to take the point. With laps counting down there
were lots of three-wide side-by-side racing going
on in the middle of the pack. A caution would come
out with just 3 laps to go when the leader #7
Jesse Teed of Orlando, Florida would blow a motor
causing a 3-lap shoot-out. With #55 Allen Craig
leading the pack on the restart would go on to win
the race with the #2 of Steve Crabtree finshing
2nd. And #86 Russ Heider to round out the top three.
