It's time to race!

   

August 20, 2002

Jamie Kennedy First Time Mini Stock Winner at Auburndale Speedway

The most loyal fans stayed and made it through the long
night patiently waiting for the rain to quit and to
get the track dried off. Races started at l0:00 pm
and finished a little after midnight, with running all
5 classes and 4 Kids Club races, with alot of lst time
winners.

Mini-Stocks had 13 cars with #99 Jamie Kennedy taking
the lead #38 Mike Margotta 2nd, and #25 Billy Barstow
3rd, Weaver got under Barstow for the 3rd spot and #5
Chris Palmer folows to 4th. Weaver got under Margotta
for the 2nd spot but a caution comes out and going
back to the last completed lap Weaver would have to
re-pass Margotta. Restart Weaver gets under Margotta
for 2nd meanwhile Palmer gets on the inside of
Margotta for 3rd and #01 Donnie Howell follows to 4th,
#89 Scott Sharpe goes high in turn 4 with a right front
tire going flat taking him out of the running. #88
Burt Morse goes around Margotta and Howell moving him
up to 4th spot another caution for who was leaking
fluid on the track bunching up the field for the
restart, racing resumes and coming out of turn 4
Morse and Plamer make contact and get hooked together
causing both of them to spin and go up to the front
stretch wall collecting Howell and then Margotta
collides with Palmer but all drivers were alright but
out of the race, moving #67 Bo Davis into the top 3.
Restart with 2 laps to Jamie Kennedy held off the
charge of Weaver to take his lst victory Wayne Weaver
2nd and Bo Davis places 3rd.

V-8 Street Stocks came to the green with #88 Josh
Haranda taking the lead with #29 Rodney Richardson
running 2nd until #40 Mike Pitts and #77 Johnny Vaughn
got under Richardson for 2nd and 3rd #32 David Holland
folows droppig Richardson to 5th. Meanwhile Pitts
gets under Haranda for the lead, Vaughn follows to 2nd
top 5 were Pitts, Vaughn, Haranda, Holland and #08
Daniel Clough, #51 Mark Lowe and #81 Roy Wilshire make
contact and Wilshire spins caution, restart Harnada
goes high collecting Holland into the backstretch wall
but both continue with no caution, #99 Jason Deaton
drives in hard into turn 3 and collects Lowe caution,
Deaton restarts in the rear of the field, restart with
a few laps to go, Mike Pittts takes the win with
Johnny Vaughn coming home 2nd and Daniel Clogh with his
best finish this season finishes 3rd.

4 Cyl Bombers got the green and #53 Eugene Davidson
took to the front with #27 Wayne Guy 2nd and #96
Larry Chumney running 3rd but challenging on the outside
side-by-side for a couple laps for the 2nd spot and
gets it, #54 Jimmy Smith went to the outside of #3
Terry Jones for the 4th spot then onto the outside of
Wayne Guy for 3rd they make contact costing Wayne Guy
a couple positions. #l David Jouppi goes through the
muddy infield and stops on the track bringing out the
caution flag. Restart Smith gets under Chumney for the
2nd spot but Chumney steps to the outside of the leader
Davidson and takes the lead Smith to 2nd and #43 Kevin
Lumley to 3rd no changes up front and thats the way
they finished with Larry Chumney taking the win,
Jimmy Smith 2nd and Kevin Lumley 3rd, but after post
race inspections #54 Jimmy Smith was dqed in tech
moving Eugene Davidson into the top 3.

Dave Dunkin #71 brought the LLM to the green flag and
took the lead with #5 Jason Bennett running 2nd and
#63 Wesley Bass and #31 Wendell Guy were side-by-side
for the 3rd spot with Guy getting it from the outside.
Top 5 were Dunkin, Bennett, Guy, Bass and #55 Richard
Elkins Jr. 5th, single file racing until #54 Steve
Black and #25 Billy Norris tangle and Norris spins
and goes to the rear for the restart, no changes were
made up front and Dave Dunkin takes the lst place and
Jason Bennett 2nd with Wendell Guy coming home 3rd.

5-55 Richard Elkins Jr.
6-65 Olile Harbin
7-00 Ronnie Heard
8-Billy Norris
9-54 Steve Black
10-20 Chuck Randolph

Super Stocks had l leader the whole race with #34
Jeff McCaw taking the lead with #51 Randy Shearer
running 2nd and #13 Aaron Williamson 3rd. A.
Williamson got under Shearer for the 2nd spot,
Shearer goes high allowing #12 David Williamson
to get 3rd, #8 Adam King and #2 Paul Gibbs get under
Shearer for the 4th and 5th spots but no one challenged
Jeff McCaw for the lead and he went on to win, with
Aaron Williamson 2nd and his dad David Williamson 3rd.

7-42 Bubba Edwards
8-40 Bobby Eddy
9-51 Randy Shearer
10-14 Andy Dorman

Kids Club ran their races with no cautions and had some
lst time winners in their divisions, these races were
sponsored by Southern Road Builders.

Seniors were the first to take to the track #97 Craig
Cuzzone got under #21 Daniel McClain for the lead and
#49 John Cummins followed to 2nd, Cuzzone stretching
his lead until he as mechanical problems and loses
power on the backstretch Cummins takes advantage and
gets the lead and goes on to take his lst victory in
the Kids Club with Craig Cuzzone coming home 2nd and
Daniel McClain 3rd.

Juniors had #29 Matthew Cummins on the pole and taking
the top spot on the green, #9 Levi Hobbs running 2nd
and putting pressure on Cummins for the lead, #18
Gregory Harris running 3rd no changes were made up
front and Matthew Cummins took the win, with Levi Hobbs
2nd and Gregory Harris 3rd.
4-94 Michael Henderson
5-10 Michele Deaton

Novice A race had #26 Brandi Stifle on the pole and taking
the lead at the green, #42 Johnathan Guy 2nd and #92
Steven Brown running 3rd, Brown and Guy make contact with
Guy losing a position to Brown for 2nd, Stifle with a
big lead takes her lst win in the Kids Club with Steven
Brown 2nd and Johnathon Guy 3rd.
4-86 Jason Gamble
5-7 Brittney Pitts
6-27 Holli Anderson

Novice B had #5 Casey Smith on the pole and taking the
lead until #8 Kimbra Hobbs goes to the outside and
takes the otp spot and pulls away from the field, top
were Hobbs, Smith, #63 Johnny Gamble, #88 Justin
Haranda and #84 Ashlee Williamson. Gamble gets to the
inside of Smith for 2nd and on the last lap Williamson
gets 4th at theline but nobody could challenge Kimbra
Hobbs and she takes the lst win, Johnny Gamble 2nd
and Casey Smith 3rd.

6-20 Megan Patton

Next weeks schedule has the Dwarf cars and all the
regular classes: LLM, Super Stocks, 4-Cyl Bombers,
Mini-Stocks and V-8 Street Stocks. Racing starts at
7:00 pm.
