Wild and Crazy Night at Orlando SpeedWorld

There was no full moon, in fact, it was a half moon but
fans in the stands would have sworn it was full. With
features only except for the Bandeleros and Legends,
it was one wild and wooly night.

Patrick Conrad #6 won the heat race for the Bandeleros
and also sat on the pole for the feature race and won
from the pole. Conrad built up a pretty good lead
over the field. Following Conrad across the checkers
was #63 Dalton Zehr, #2 Matt Martin, #14 Troy Adkins,
and #ll Brandon Thomson.

The Legends had two heats but just as they were going
on the track, I had to run an errand and I missed them
But it was the #l on the pole for the feature race with
the #81 taking the lead and never looking back.
Following #81 to the checkered was #l, #44, #l and
#24 who finished inches in front of the #8 which had
run in fifth for most of the laps.

Homer Gordon #22 sat on the pole for the Sportsman feature
but it was #9 Kelly Jarrett and #31 Paul Colgan who lead
the field. Jarrett and Colgan did some great side-by-
side racing and never touching. But coming up fast on
Jarrett and Colgan was the #4 Rick Johns. The next
thing fans knew it was a threesome - three wide with
Johns on the inside, Jarrett in the middle and Colgan
on the outside. Colgan did his best to try and take
the lead but it was the #4 Johns who jumped to the lead
and took the checkered. Following Johns was #31 Paul
Colgan, #3 Earl Beckner, #9 Kelly Jarrett, and #23
Robert Hight.

The Mini-Stock feature saw the #28 of Sean Bass on the
pole. "Weasel" as he is nicknamed, took the lead
on the green but it was the #98 Josh Herman who passed
Bass and took over. Bobby Orr's #30 broke before the
race and Tim Clark #15 graciously loaned Bobby his car
since Bobby is racing for points and Clark is not.
Tim McPhail did a great job of coming from the rear
as well as David Castello #l, who is running second
in points at New Smyrna Speedway and just came to
visit our sister track. McPhail tried but could not
pass Herman. Following Herman to the checkers was
#7 Tim "Missileman" McPhail, #l David Castello, #88
R.J. Arnone, #07 Dick Lazslo. In tech, the #98
was dq'd because of heads and the win was given
to McPhail giving the fifth place position to the
#43 Rose.

Mike Murphy #26 sat on the pole for the Super Late
Model race and won from the pole. There was a little
spinning from a few cars but none hurt. In the
field was B.J. McLeod #78, one of the fans favorite
drivers. Also in the field was #94 driven by Chad
Pierce for the night. Ronnie Roach #14 did a great
job of getting right on Murphy's tail but never
could get the pass. Following Murphy to the checkered
was #14 Ronnie Roach, #02 Jared Allison, #78 B.J. McLeod,
#26x Eric Doffendall, #54 Russ Thompson, #45 Mack
Hanbury, #5 Derrick Strong, and #44 Greg Brooks.

The Super Stock division was wild tonight. It seemed
that one lap could not go down without a caution. The
#5 sat on the pole and lead up until #50 Jeff Wright
decided it was his time to step up and take the lead.
Luckily, most of the crashes did not involve the top
cars. Following Wright to the finish was #2 Ron
Whaley, #l Carl Peters, #17 Rich Clouser, and #00 John
Hodge.

The #99 sat on the pole for the modified feature but it
was the #55 Shane Held who took the lead and held it
to the end. Following Held to the finish was #30 John
Foerg, #57 Jim "Hoot" Flynn, #67 Darren Gould and #34
Frank Polly.

Strictly Stocks saw the #ll Debbie Simpson on the pole
for their feature event but it was the hard charging
#0 Michael Seay who got the lead and took the checkers.
Following Seay was #l Coy Riddle, #33 Frank Constantio,
#45, and #ll Debbie Simpson.

Join us next weekend, August 23, for a night of FASCAR
Regular racing except for modifieds.
