First Time Winners at Auburndale Speedway

First time winners and possible new point leaders were
the story of teh night, a scheduling problem with the
Legend cars so they were not able to race at Auburndale
Saturday but the rest of the classes put on a good
show.

V-8 Street Stocks had 20 cars taking the green. #68
Mike Wilson and #51 Mark Lowe making up the front row
after winning the heat races, on the start 2 cars tangle
in turn l and spin bringing out the caution and setting
up a complete restart but once racing was underway
Wilson took the lead. #40 Mike Pitts got under Lowe for
the 2nd spot but then caution flew again putting Lowe
back up into the 2nd spot having gone back to the last
completed lap, green again its Wilson, Lowe, Pitts, #
21 Chris Narramore, Jr. and #99 Jason Deaton, several
more cautions flew but no changes were made up front.
Oneone of the later restarts, #38 Jason Stifle broke
a right front wheel and stopped on the backstretch
bringing out a caution. Restart the leader Wilson goes
high and Lowe goes underneath him for the lead but
another caution for the #66 Wesley Harbin spinning.
Last restart the field gets 2 laps to go because of
"time constraints" the race was shortened to the
surprise of most of the drivers and Wilson who had
lead most of the race had a tire going down and went
to the pits during the last caution. "If I had known
they were going to shorten the race, I wouldn't have
pitted and probably had finished in the top 5 and
it wouldn't have cost me valuable points," but Mark
Lowe went on to take his lst win with Mike Pitts 2nd
and Chris Narramore Jr. 3rd.
4-99 Jason Deaton
5-00 Rodney Peterson
6-32 David Holland
7-81 Roy Wilshire
8-88 Jacob Haranda
9-16 David Purvis
10-66 Wesley Harbin

The 4 Cyl Bombers had a familiar face in the winners
circle with only ll cars taking the green. #l David
Jouppi started from the pole, #54 Jimmy Smith 2nd but
not for long as #96 Larry Chumney II got to the inside
and took the 2nd spot dropping Smith to 3rd. #3 Terry
Jones was running 4th and #31 Donnie Guy 5th. Kevin
Lumely #43 got under Guy for the 5th spot and a
questionable caution shlowed the field down with no
apparent reason why the caution came out. They
restarted Lumley got to the outside of Jones for 4th
and took it at the line but David Jouppi took home lst
with Larry Chumney II 2nd and Jimmy Smith 3rd.
4-43 Kevin Lumley
5-3 Terry Jones
6-53 Eugene Davidson
7-27 Wayne Guy
8-41 Glenn Malloy
9-9 Darryl Ashmore Jr.
10-63 Steve Johnson

Super Stocks had #42 Bubba Edwards on the pole and
outside of him was #31 Donnie Harp. Edwards got
the lead on the start, #2 Paul Gibbs and Harp were
side-by-side for 2nd with Gibbs getting the spot.
#13 Aaron Williamson followed to 3rd under Harp, single
file racing for a while with laps winding down, #40
Robert Eddy and #62 Travis Wilson make contact with
Eddy spinning bringing out the caution. Wilson to the
rear for the restart, top 5 were Edwards, Gibbs,
A. Williamson, Harp and #01 Chris Lewellen. Racing
resumes and another caution for #8 Adam King and Wilson
get together with King spinning. Restart-racing under-
way and on the last lap #12 David Williamson goes
high and collects #9 Jimmy Castleberry into the front
stretch wall. Harp got under Lewellen to take 4th at
the line, but Bubba Edwards got the win, Paul Gibbs
2nd and Aaron Williamson 3rd.
4-31 Donnie Harp
5-0l Chris Lewellen
6-12 David Williamson
7-40 Bobby Eddy
8-34 Jeff McCaw
9-62 Travis Wilson
10-8 Adam King

"Unlucky" 13 was how many cars made up the LLM race. #5
Jason Bennett and #00 Ronnie Heard made up the front
row bringing the field to the green flag. On the start,
#31 Sendell Guy goes high coming out of turn 4 and
bounces off of #46 Tommy Caveney sending Guy throught
the infield and bunching the field up in the back which
ended #45 Sam Cressmans night after hitting and sliding
down the frontstretch wall. Complete restart again
Bennett gets the lead, Heard 2nd, Guy 3rd, #55 Richard
Elkins 4th and Caveney running 5th. Bart Weatherford
#l gets under Caveney for the 5th spot and then the
caution comes out because of the leader Jason Bennett's
rear bumper is haing down off of his car so they stop
him at the pit gate and the official with no effort
pulls the bumper off and then they tell Bennett because
they threw the catuion flag for him, he has to go to the
back for the rstart. "I can understand for safety reasons
why they did that but why not just let it fall off like
any other situation, it was barely hanging on anyway?"
says Bennett. After racing resumes with a new leader no
changes were made up front and Ronnie Heard goes to take
the win, Wendell Guy 2nd and Richard Elkins Jr. 3rd.
4-l Bart Weatherford
5-65 Ollie Harbin
6-46 Tommy Caveney
7-5 Jason Bennett
8-71 Dave Dunkin
9-99 Danny Mabry
10-25 Billy Norris

Mini Stocks had 9 cars take to the track with #18 Kenny
Hankins taking the lead. #01 Donnie Howell 2nd and
#99 Jamie Kennedy running 3rd,. Chris Palmer #5 got
underneath #38 Mike Margotta for 4th. Running 3rd
Kennedy spins on his own in turn 2 bringing out the
caution. Top 5 were Hankins, Howell, Palmer, Margotta
and #25 Billy Bartsow running 5th. Single file for a
couple laps then Barstow gets under Margotta for 4th but
then goes high and #12 Terry Wescott and Kennedy get
under him for 4th and a5th spot. Palmer takes the 2nd
spot from Howell meanwhile #04 Randy Teston got 5th
from Kennedy but Kenny Hankins had no challenges and
went on to win. Chris Palmer 2nd and Donnie Howell 3rd.
4-12 Terry Wescott
5-04 Randy Teston
6-38 Mike Margotta
7-25 Billy Barstow
8-99 Jamie Kennedy
9-60 Greg Valdez

Next week August 17th has Kids Club scheduled and all
regular classes LLM, Mini-Stocks, 4 Cyl Bombers and
Super Stocks and V-8 Street Stocks.
