Outlaws Beat The Heat

Twenty-One Outlaw Modifieds took on the Aug heat to stage their annual Danny Curl Jr. Memorial Saturday night at Charlotte County Speedway.

Running twin 25 lap features afforded the fans some of the fastest 4 cylinder racing in Florida.

In race number 1 Raymond Superfrog Jones of Arcadia held off Doug Hopper of New Port Richey in the 15 car while series point leader Ted Hoversen of Key West in the 5 car chased them both across the stripe. Randy Sands of Tavernier Fl returning in the Pink Cadillac finished fourth. Rounding out the top 5 was Lance Hoversen of Key West in the 55 car.

Race number 2 was twice as exciting with a full field inversion of 20 cars making up the lineup. Bringing out a caution on lap 3 was the 5 car of Ted Hoversen of Key West as he went straight into the wall in turn 3.

Running the rest under green the field finished up with Randy Sands in the 8 car with Lance Hoversen 55 finishing second with Doug Hopper in the 15 car finishing third.

Fourth was Corey the Kid Collum of Cape Coral and Steve Quick of Davie Fl finishing fifth.

Randy Sands and Doug Hopper tied for overall winner with Lance Hoversen and Rookie Corey Collum finishing second and third overall.
