FASCAR Sunbelt Super Late Model 125

Race Two of Triple Crown

Mike Bresnahan won his second FASCAR Sunbelt Super Late Model Series 125 event and also won race two in Triple Crown action Saturday night at Citrus County Speedway in Florida after taking the point in lap nine.

Bresnahan of LeCanto, FL, driving the Gulf to Lakes Sales wasted no time moving to the front passing outside pole sitting Dick Anderson of Wildwood, FL in the Simmons Construction car. The FASCAR Sunbelt point leading Anderson would finish third.

Bresnahan also won the opening March FASCAR Sunbelt race at Citrus count Speedway. The FASCAR Sunbelt point leading Anderson would finish third.

James Powell III of Astor, FL set fast time in his Natural Difference ride turning the three-eighths mile paved oval in 13.75 second or 98.43 mph and drew number five for inversion of the starting field leading 19 cars to green.

There were eight cars that finished on the lead lap in a race that came under six cautions and one red flag stoppage.

B.J. McCloud of Wachula, FL started on the pole in the BJD Enterprises ride, but Anderson beat him to the point quickly. McCloud dropped to second followed by Bresnahan, who quickly zeroed in on the lead.

In lap-10 it was Bresnahan with Powell closing the gap on the early leaders after starting fifth.

Powell passed Anderson taking over second in lap 62 and would finish there, but was unable to dial in the speedy and well setup car of Bresnahan.

David Rogers of Orlando, FL, driving the TM Ranch Dodge and second in FASCAR Sunbelt points slapped the front straightaway wall and his car was done for the night. Rogers was not injured.

Bresnahan crossed the stripe followed by Powell and Anderson.

Rounding out the top five were Jeff Scoffield of Plant City, FL and Rick Pratt of Wildwood, FL.

FASCAR Sunbelt Super Late Model Series racing continues at New Smyrna Speedway in Samsula, FL on Aug. 31 with the running of the Little Tree Road to Charlotte 125.
