Auburndale Crowns Mid-Season Champions

Mid Season Champions were crowned and with double points that made the point standings change in some classes. All classes qualified and where they qualified is where they started. LLM fast qualifier was # 55 Richard Elkins Jr. Super Stock fast qualifier was # 12 David Williamson Mini-Stock fast qualifier was # 18 Kenny Hankins V-8 Street Stock fast qualifier was # 21 Chris Narramore Jr. 4-Cyl.Bombers fast qualifer was # 1 David Jouppi.

4-Cyl had 18 cars going to the green flag with # 43 Kevin Lumley setting fast time with a lap of 17.750. On the 1st start Lumley goes high on # 1 of David Jouppi coming out of turn 4 gets the lead, while # 96 Larry Chumney stalls on the back stretch bringing out the caution. Complete restart Jouppi gets Lumley sideways on the front stretch and with the contact Lumley loses his back bumper caution again, second complete restart # 3 Terry Jones and # 27 Dewayne Guy tangle with Guy spinning bringing out the caution again, third restart Jouppi gets the lead with Chumney, Lumley, # 43 Jimmy Smith and # 53 Eugene Davidson in the top 5, # 38 Jerry Wingfield got under Davidson for the 5th spot and Chumney got under Lumley for 2nd. Jouppi the leader getting into lapped traffic and another caution comes out. Restart single file racing until Smith and Lumley make contact sending Lumley spinning, when racing resumes Wingfield blows a motor going into turn 1 sending himself, Dewayne Guy,! Terry Jones, # 7 Chad Ashley, & Davidson into the wall, Davidson & Guy were able to continue Jones & Wingfield were done for the night, and Chad Ashley was knocked out when the track safety reached his car, so for precautionary measures he was transported to the hospital and was checked out fine, and returned to watch the rest of the races. After the clean-up and with only a few laps to go David Jouppi claimed the Mid-Season Championship with Larry Chumney 2nd and # 21 Keith Shirah 3rd. 4-54 Jimmy Smith 5-27 Wayne Guy 6-53 Eugene Davidson 7-69 Shane Guy 8-83 Amanda Robinson 9-43 Kevin Lumley 10-31 Donnie Guy

Front row for the LLM were # 55 Richard Elkins Jr. who set fast time with a lap at 14.410 and # 71 Dave Dunkin, on the start Elkins got the lead after a good battle side-by-side with Dunkin # 54 Steve Black and # 45 Sam Cressman make slight contact and both get loose but continue # 00 Ronnie Heard and # 25 Billy Norris do a spin in turn 4 bringing out the caution, on the restart # 63 Wesley Bass gets a couple spots to move up into the 6th spot # 65 Ollie Harbin and Norris bounce off of each other on the front stretch but keep going and # 9 Robbie Storer slows on the back stretch and gets on the inside lane to get into the infield meanwhile Bass gets under # 46 Tommy Caveney for the 5th spot but Storer comes into play when he isn't off of the track yet and Bass boots him in the rear trying to get Storer out of the way and that causes Black to hit the back of Bass sending him spinning into the infield and the caution comes out. Restart all that were involved in the caution got! their positions back and racing was underway with only a few laps to go Bass tries the outside of # 5 Jason Bennett for the 5th spot but came up short, Richard Elkins Jr. took the Mid-Season Championship with Dave Dunkin 2nd and # 1 Bart Weatherford 3rd. 4-5 Jason Bennett 5-46 Tommy Caveney 6-63 Wesley Bass 7-54 Steve Black 8-45 Sam Cressman 9-8 Ricky Scruggs 10-00 Ronnie Heard

With 16 cars ready to rumble in the Super Stock race, this race had some weird twists to it before it was over with. # 12 David Williamson setting fast time with a 15.656 starting from the pole, on the start Williamson gets the lead # 42 Bubba Edwards and # 13 Aaron Williamson were side-by-side battling for the 2nd spot with Williamson getting the spot # 62 Travis Wilson getting under Edwards for the 3rd spot then Edwards brushes the front stretch wall and pops a right front going into turn 1, bringing out a caution, racing resumes and its D.Williamson, A. Williamson, Wilson, # 01 Chris Lewellen, and # 2 Paul Gibbs with single file racing for a couple laps # 3 Chuck Steele and # 51 Randy Shearer go for the same hole and spin bringing out another caution, restart Aaron Williamson slows in turn 2 with a right front flat but would return for the restart in the rear, Lewellen pulls in the infield with a trail of liquid behind his car ending his night, restart Aaron Williamson fo! r the 2nd time is stopped by the wall in turn 2 with another right front flat but would return for the restart, racing underway Shearer and Aaron Williamson would tangle in turn 4 and cause a caution, meanwhile the leader David Williamson gets a right front flat and would have to go to the pits handing the lead to Wilson, but returns for the last restart, handful of laps left Travis Wilson gets his 1st win and is crowned Mid-Season Champion with Paul Gibbs 2nd, and # 69 Bob Gorsich 3rd. 4-31 Donnie Harp 5-9 Jimmy Castleberry 6-14 Andy Dorman 7-13 Aaron Williamson 8-12 David Williamson 9-40 Bobby Eddy 10-51 Randy Shearer

Mini-Stocks had a bigger field of cars this week for the Mid-Season race, with # 18 Kenny Hankins on the pole after setting fast time of 15.413 and # 9 Robbie Storer outside, they were side-by-side for a couple laps until Storer got the advantage and took the lead and # 12 Wes Pyburn followed to 2nd, then Hankins took 2nd back going under Pyburn, caution comes out for # 97 Brian Dorer and # 38 Mike Margotta made contact and Margotta went spinning in turn 2, restart single file racing for awhile # 67 Bo Davis gets under # 12x Terry Wescott for the 5th spot but then Wescott and # 01 Donnie Howell get back under Davis for the 5th and 6th spots with laps counting down on the last lap Howell and Wescott tangle on the back stretch and Wescott spins but no caution comes out and Robbie Storer takes the Mid-Season Championship with Kenny Hankins 2nd, and # 12 Wes Pyburn 3rd. After post race inspections # 12 Wes Pyburn not tearing down completely was DQed moving # 77 Lee D! avis into the top 3. 4-5 Chris Palmer 5-01 Donnie Howell 6-67 Bo Davis 7-19 Donnie Ezell 8-38 Mike Margotta 9-97 Brian Dorer 10-12x Terry Wescott

The biggest class of the night was the V-8 Street Stocks with 23 cars starting, # 21 Chris Narramore Jr.set fast time with a lap of 16.111 and brought them to the green flag and took the lead with # 99 Jason Deaton 2nd, # 17 Alex Abbott 3rd, # 32 David Holland, 4th and # 65 Brian Harbin rounding out the top 5 Dee Davis # 05 spun in turn 2 with nobody making contact but bringing out the 1st caution, restart # 68 Mike Wilson goes to the outside of Harbin for 5th and then # 40 Mike Pitts gets under Harbin and # 38 Jason Stifle follows, Abbott gets under Deaton for the 2nd spot but the caution comes out for Harbin who slowed on the track putting Deaton up into the 2nd spot for the restart after going back to the last completed lap with 6 laps to go racing again single file until Abbott gets under Deaton again and takes the 2nd spot but nobody could catch Chris Narramore and he takes the Mid-Season Championship race with Alex Abbott 2nd and Jason Deaton 3rd. After post race inspections 2nd place Alex Abbott and 3rd place Jason Deaton were DQed in tech for their pistons moving # 32 David Holland and # 68 Mike Wilson up to 2nd and 3rd. 4-40 Mike Pitts 5-38 Jason Stifle 6-08 Daniel McClough 7-00 Rodney Peterson 8-51 Mark Lowe 9-81 Roy Wilshire 10-16 David Purvis.


V-8 Street Stock mid season champ is # 99 Jason Deaton.

LLM mid season champion is # 65 Ollie Harbin.

The Lakeland Auto Salvage Demo-Derby had 6 cars to beat and bang on each other, with good early hits this demo didn't last long and # 632 Mark Dewaine out lasted them all to take the win.
