Lake City Speedway hosted the Florida Minisprint Association Saturday Night

Lake City Speedway hosted the Florida Minisprint Association Saturday night as numerous tracks cancelled due to weather. Fourteen minisprints showed up to enjoy the break in the rain and put on an exciting show for the fans. Jesse Teed #7 won the first heat race with Russ Heider #86 taking the win for the 2nd heat. Teed, taking advantage of a caution on lap 17, pulled away from the field to take the checkers on the 25th lap of the minisprint feature. The #86 of Russ Heider was a victim of the lap 17 caution, as he retired to the pit after having led the previous 15 laps. The #33 of Tom Wilson finished 2nd, #55 of Allen Craig finished 3rd, #19 of Ryan Thomas finished 4th and #81 (name not available) finished 5th.

Thirteen Late Model Sportsman took advantage of a break in the weather to provide excitement for the evening as #28 Everett Phillips won the first heat and #35 Charles Sealy won the 2nd heat. As the green dropped on the feature race, Phillips never looked back as he led start to finish to win the LM Sportsman feature race. #18 Michael Lloyd from Jacksonville finished 2nd, #35 of Charles Sealy finished 3rd, #4 of Chris Johnson finished 4th and the P1 of Cale Simons finished 5th.

Foul weather brought new faces to the modified division as drivers scrambled to find a track that wasn't cancelled due to rain. The #90 of Mark Whitener won the first heat race with #5 driven by J.O. Nobles making the drive over from Putnam County Speedway to win the 2nd heat race. Mark Whitener took the lead from his pole position after beating J.O. Nobles in a drag race to the first corner. The highlight of the night for the fans was watching Nobles pull the left front wheel off the track as the #5 modified chased Whitener out of turn four, looking for an edge to chase Whitener down. His efforts proved fruitless as Mark Whitener maintained his lead to take the win. J.O. Nobles in the #5 finished 2nd, The #44 of George Thrift ran 3rd, #20 driven by Keny Porter finished 4th, following 5th respectively was #83 Shawn Taylor.

The first heat race for the Pure Stocks saw #04 Jack Mosley taking the win with #00 of Marty Norris taking the checkers for the 2nd heat race and #0 of Nevin Gainey winning the 3rd heat. The Pure Stock field once again proved that the 1st turn was where the action was as they tried to put 7 cars where they don't all fit. After a caution filled race, the #04 of Jack Mosley and the #00 of Marty Norris led throughout the 30 lap features. Heartbreak hit Mosley and Norris at the tech shed as both were disqualified for illegal parts. The win went to the #97 of Joey Rolling with Coleman Jandle III finishing 2nd, #1 Jerry Fortner finishing 3rd, #36 of Michael Sheffield finishing 4th and #28 of Trisha Taylor finishing 5th.

Jeff Stalnaker, Sr. once again proved it doesn't matter what car he drives as he won the heat race in his son's #10 ride. Jeff Sr. got the jump coming off turn 4 and never looked back as he led all 15 laps of the ministock feature. The #59 of Bill Stalnaker pulled closed, even giving the #10 a nudge or two, but could never find enough horsepower to muscle his way around and finished 2nd. 3rd was #29 of Drew Smith, 4th was #27 of Joey Haslauer and 5th belonged to #2 Al Sawyer, both having made the roadtrip over from Barbersville to try their luck at Lake City.

The first heat race of the Street Stock class was won by #1 of Bubba Clark with the #31 of Shane Taylor taking the 2nd heat win and #27 of Jason Garver gaining the victory of the 3rd heat race. The Street Feature proved disappointing as local favorite Jason Garver went out on lap 13 with mechanical problems. The #1 of Bubba Clark raced to the finish with the #79 of Duane Teckenbrock and the #44 of Dean Sands close behind. Post race tech inspection saw the #1 and #79 disqualified and the win went to the #44 of Dean Sands. #17 Windal Clark finished 2nd, #8X of Ronald Broughton took 3rd, #94 of Chuck Hall placed 4th and #77 of Brad Fiene finished 5th.

Six Limited Late Models from Jacksonville put on a good show for the crowd with #57 of Wally Schneider taking the heat race win. The final race of the night found the ltd. late models eager to get some racing done. Schneider won the heat race, but lost out on the start when the #77 of Rick Hutchinson beat him to turn 1. Hutchinson led the race for twenty-two laps when a caution gave the #74 of Terry Jones the lead. Jones held on to win with the #27 of Jeff Hunter finishing 2nd, #77 of Rick Hutchinson finishing 3rd, #57 of Wally Schneider coming across 4th and the #72 of Tom Hunter taking the 5th place position.
