Rains Wash Out Citrus L.M. Show Down

Inverness, Fl. - Monsoon rains washed out what would have
been the first of four Citrus County Speedway "Late Model
125 Show Downs." There will be a make up race put into
the schedule to announced at a later date. In order to
notify all the traveling drivers that were expected to
make up the big 125 for $5,000 to win, the weather per-
son put the hammer down at about noon Saturday and
promoters Billy Hooker and Jimmy Wear wisely looked
over the weather predictions for Saturday and Sunday
and called off the whole weekend.

This would have been a good opportunity for the Late
Models to prepare for that second leg of the "Sunbelt
Governors Cup" scheduled for August 3rd. There will be
three regular 30 lap races for the Late Models before
the big 125 in August.

Next Saturday night it will be the "Citrus Truck
Accessories 40" for Sportsman plus a full schedule of
Late Models, Street Stocks, Hobby Stocks, Mini Stocks
and Thunder Stocks in heat and feature action. Sports-
man will qualify in time trials and a pill will be drawn
by the fast qualifier for starting inversion.

July 27th will see the return of the Figure 8's at Citrus
County Speedway and many of the fans have been looking
forward to that with eager anticipation.

Now all we need to do is get the weather person to co-
operate and get back on track. It will be three weeks
since the local drivers have had a chance to get back
on the fast 3/8ths mile.
