Dick Anderson Adds Another Short Track Win

By Marty Little

OCALA, Fla. - Two-time Florida Pro Series champion Dick Anderson put his years of experience to work to win Saturday night's FPS 100 lap late model headliner at Ocala Speedway.

Pole sitter Jonny Kay set an early pace around the D shaped oval as Anderson worked his way toward the front.

Anderson and Jason Boyd tangled on the front straight on lap 25 with Anderson's mount suffering some damage to the right front fender.

Anderson caught Kay for the lead on lap 39, but only stayed out front for a trio of laps before Kay went back ahead.

Anderson showed a great deal of patience in shadowing Kay until finally going back to the point on lap 56.

Kay tucked in behind and the lead duo and they ran nose to tail until lap 85 when Anderson began to pull away.

Scott Grossenbacher, who considers Ocala his home track, had chased Kay for many laps and on lap 94 he was able to make good on a pass for the runner-up position and they ran to the checkers in the same order.

The win was Anderson's third of the season and increased his point lead over Kay. Behind Anderson, Grossenbacher and Kay in the final rundown were Brian Finney and Richard Pratt.
