Phil Riles From St. Pete Beach Police Dept Takes the 911 Cop Racing Win At Aurburndale

(6-15-02)With a rain out last week Auburndale Fans were ready for some exciting racing action and the drivers didn't let them down, the racing was jam packed in all 7 classes that ran Saturday night. Dwarf cars and the 911 Cops Racing were the featured races of the weekend.

Dwarfs ( Dwarf car Racing Association East) started the night off with their feature race and # 17 James Wagner didn't waste any time and took the lead with # 21 Brian Gingras running 2nd, # 77 Bill Burback running 3rd slowed and lost his back bumper and had to pull in bringing out the 1st caution. After the restart # 73 Zane Davis got to the inside of # 28 Don Hess and they touch making Hess spin bringing out caution # 2. Another restart Gingras giving Wagner the leader some taps on the back bumper and got to the inside of Wagner and they make contact battling for the lead and Wagner gets some damage to his bumper and it starts smoking from rubbing on the tire. Gingras gets the lead and # 68 Nick Shadid takes advantage and goes to 2nd at the line, dropping Wagner to 3rd.

911 Cops Racing were ready to rumble, different Deputy's representing their Agencies and Counties racing to raise funds for Children's charitable causes. Taking the lead from the start was # 2 Bob Hart and # 28 Phil Riles working on the 2nd spot putting # 5 Butch Rumsy back to the 3rd spot, Riles makes a move to the inside to take the lead coming out of turn 2 # 47 Joe Gill slips up and # 10 Steve Wagner goes to the outside and they battle side-by-side for several laps but Wagner slips up and Gill gets the 4th spot but nobody could challenge for the lead and Phil Riles takes the win, with Bob Hart 2nd and Butch Rumsy 3rd.

4-Cyl. Bombers had a 15 car field and took the green with # 1 David Jouppi taking the lead and pulling away from the field, # 31 Donnie Guy running 2nd, and # 38 Jerry Wingfield 3rd. A battle in the middle of the pack between # 43 Kevin Lumley and # 96 Larry Chumney II going into turn 3 Chumney goes to the inside, down in the rumble strips and rams into the side of Lumley taking himself out after breaking his axle for the 2nd time in 1 night, Lumley was able to continue. Restart # 3 Terry Jones got to the inside of Donnie Guy for the 2nd spot # 53 Eugene Davidson goes outside of Wingfiled for the 4th spot and then inside of Donnie Guy for 3rd, Wingfield gets under Donnie Guy for 4th and # 95 Reggie Ware follows to 5th. After spreading his lead David Jouppi takes the win, Terry Jones 2nd and Eugene Davidson 3rd.

V-8 Street Stocks had a full field of cars with 19 taking the green. On the start # 29 Rodney Richardson spun on the front stretch and # 77 Johnny Vaughn lost his tire which had me looking to the skies for the full moon? Complete restart # 21 Chris Narramore Jr. took the lead from the pole position # 00 Rodney Peterson 2nd and # 38 Jason Stifle running 3rd. Mike Wilson # 68 gets inside of Stifle for the 3rd spot and the 1st caution comes out when # 98 Tim Rushing spins blocking the front stretch but nobody hits him, restart top 5 were Narramore, Peterson, Wilson, Stifle, and # 99 Jason Deaton, Wilson gets the 2nd spot from Peterson and the 2nd caution comes out when # 16 David Purvis spins on the back stretch, meanwhile # 51 Mark Lowe pulls in with a broken right front wheel after running in the top 10, restart lap 5 another caution when # 32 David Holland spins in turn 1 and Purvis spins to avoid hitting him. Restart only to have the yellow fly again # 29 Richardson losses ! his tire and Purvis's car catches fire and stops on the back stretch to put out his own fire, when racing resumes Deaton gets under Stifle for 4th and # 40 Mike Pitts follows to 5th, Pitts goes to the outside of Deaton for the 4th spot, but Narramore took his heat win and now the feature with Mike Wilson 2nd and Rodney Peterson 3rd.

Mini-Stocks had 11 cars in the feature, Burt Morse # 88 started from the pole # 89 Scott Sharpe running 2nd and # 5 Chris Palmer in 3rd, # 9 Robbie Storer up to 4th and under Palmer for the 3rd spot Sharpe goes to the outside of Morse for the lead but Morse keeps it until lap 8 Storer takes the lead and the win, Burt Morse 2nd and Scott Shapre 3rd.

The Super Stocks had a 1st time winner and plenty of action with 17 cars taking the green # 13 Aaron Williamson took the top spot from the start # 8 Adam King and # 34 Jeff McCaw battle for 2nd but McCaw slips back and # 2 Paul Gibbs gets under him for 3rd, # 80 Dustin Breeden goes to the inside of # 51 Randy Shearer for 5th but spins collecting # 42 Bubba Edwards and # 63 Chris Kingham but both were able to continue from the rear on the restart. Breeden was black flagged for his exhaust dragging the caution comes out for Breeden not getting off the track, after waiting for Breeden to pull the exhaust off of his car he was able to restart the race in the rear of the field, King got Aaron Williamson sideways and took the lead, Gibbs, McCaw and Edwards followed dropping Williamson to 5th, Breeden and Shearer get together causing Breeden to spin out Kingham in turn 4 bringing out the last caution, with a few laps to go Adam King took the win Paul Gibbs 2nd and Jeff McCaw ! 3rd.

LLM put on a good show with just 11 cars in the feature, # 65 Ollie Harbin started front row inside and took the lead with # 46 Tommy Caveney 2nd and # 55 Richard Elkins Jr. running 3rd, but Caveney got Harbin sideways and got under him to take the lead # 71 Dave Dunkin started in the back of the pack and got up to 5th on the outside putting on a heck of a show until he fell out after breaking a rocker arm bolt. A battle for 3rd heats up when # 63 Wesley Bass gets under Elkins, but Harbin gives the leader Caveney the boot and that makes the top 2 back off of the gas and Bass went to the outside for the 2nd spot but comes up short at the line and Tommy Caveney takes the win, Ollie Harbin 2nd and Wesley Bass comes home 3rd.
