Sport Allen Wns Dick Friedley Memorial at Sunshine Speedway

by Larry Lype

PINELLAS PARK, Fla. - The first annual Dick Friedley
Memorial Race was held at Sunshine Speedway. This was
the second visit by the TBARA Winged Sprint Series to
Sunshine Speedway this year. Dick Friedley was the
Photographer, PR Person, as well as a great friend to
the TBARA Family for many years, who passed away last
year. Three fast heat races were won by Shane Butler,
Matt Mercer, and Ben Fritz.

These three drivers were eligible for the Barfield Clean
Sweep Bonus. Pole sitter Ben Ffitz brought the field
down for the green flag with Matt Mercer along side.
The fans were treated to fantastic racing action all
around the tight oval.

When the checkered flag flew, fifth place starter Sport
Allen won, with Keith Butler second, Wayne Reutimann
third, Jimmy Alvis fourth, and Dude Teate rounding out
the top five. The next race for the TBARA Winged Sprint
Series is at the Ocala Speedway on June 8.
