Full Moon Fever At Auburndale

The full moon caused slight problems for some drivers at Auburndale when one tried to do a victory donut and got a surprise, while 4 drivers were dq'ed in one class to affect the top 10 finishing order.

The Racing for Kids Club was the 1st division to take to the track, with the Seniors on the track # 36 Laura Weaver was on the pole and took the lead on the start with # 97 Craig Cuzzone running 2nd, # 2 Orrin Wright 3rd and # 49 John Cummins rounding out the top 4. Cuzzone giving Weaver a few taps to the bumper and finally gets to the inside for 1st and Wright follows dropping Weaver to 3rd Orrin Wright goes to the inside of Cuzzone and takes 1st and the win, Craig Cuzzone 2nd, Laura Weaver 3rd, and John Cummins 4th.

Juniors were next up, # 29 Matthew Cummins brought the field to the green flag and took the lead # 21 Daniel McClain got to the inside of # 01 Casey Howell but backs out and # 58 Pamela Weaver gets on the outside of Howell to challenge for 2nd and Weaver gets the spot, McClain gets around Howell for 3rd # 18 Gregory Harris follows dropping Howell another spot Weaver catching Cummins but runs out of time and Matthew Cummins takes the win, Pamela Weaver 2nd, and Daniel McClain 3rd.

Scott Hartsock, driver of Gunslinger, came onto the track in fine fashion crashing through the wall between turns 3 & 4 and over top the cars, catching some air, and then going over top the cars and coming right up to the fence on the pits and grandstands sides. Then while doing some donuts he popped his right front tire ending his stunts a little earlier than usual.

Novice races were ready to go next # 94 Michael Henderson started in the top spot and took the lead with # 7 Brittney Pitts 2nd, # 4 Derrick Lindsey 3rd, # 84 Ashlee Williamson took 4th going around # 92 Jonathon Guy, Henderson with a big lead, Guy takes 4th back and then goes to the outside of Lindsey for the 3rd spot and then under Pitts for 2nd Gamble got to the inside of Williamson for 5th then to the outside of Lindsey for 4th but, with the laps running down no one could catch Michael Henderson and he took the win with Jonathon Guy 2nd and Brittney Pitts 3rd.

The 2nd novice race was underway with # 9 Levi Hobbs taking the lead, #00 Devan Fair 2nd and a good battle for the 3rd spot with # 52 Gary Brown Jr. and # 88 Justin Harnada side-by-side for a couple laps and Brown goes to 3rd, # 27 Holli Anderson follows dropping Haranda to 5th, but gets into the wall on the frontstretch but continues, then stall in turn 4 bringing out a caution. Restart top 5 had no changes and Levi Hobbs takes the checkered flag with Devan Fair 2nd and Gary Brown Jr. 3rd.

All of the Kids Club races tonight were sponsored by Checkered Flag Graphics and Race Car Parts.

The 4-Cyls. had a 17 car field and # 27 Wayne Guy took the lead, # 9 Darryl Ashmore Sr. got under # 21 Keith Shirah for 2nd # 96 Larry Chumney II gets 2nd and # 3 Terry Jones goes under Shirah for 3rd # 88 Kenny Sasser under Shirah for 4th Chumney tries the outside for the lead but falls back in line to try again then the caution comes out. Restart, then the caution comes out right away for a 3 car pile-up in turn three all continue except for # 63 Steve Johnson on the restart Chumney went to the outside for the lead, and Sasser and # 1 David Jouppi racing side-by-side for 4th Jouppi gets the 4th spot and then gets under Jones for 3rd Jouppi up to battle for the 2nd spot with Chumney and they tangle with 1 lap to go but Wayne Guy gets the win Larry Chumney 2nd and David Jouppi 3rd. After post race inspections for flywheels # 96 Larry Chumney, # 1 David Jouppi, # 21 Keith Shirah and # 88 Kenny Sasser were dqed moving # 3 Terry Jones and # 31 Donnie Guy into the top 3.

V-8 Street Stocks had 18 cars in the feature race, with # 68 Mike Wilson on the pole and took the lead form the start # 25 Jeff Davis and # 66 Wesley Harbin spin in turn 4 causing the 1st caution, on the restart # 21 Chris Narramore Jr. goes under of # 32 David Holland for 5th, then # 38 Jason Stifle spins on his own but keeps going, # 16 David Purvis gets under # 51 Mark Lowe for 4th and Naramore running 5th lost a tire in turn 4 that caused his car to go alittle airborne but he was alright, moving # 17 Alex Abbott into the top 5. Restart Lowe goes inside of Purvis to take 3rd and Purvis gets into the wall alittle on the frontstretch but keeps going, Abbott goes to 4th # 40 Mike Pitts gets under Purvis for 5th, but Purvis tries to go under Pitts and spins on his own coming out of turn 4 but continues on, Mike Wilson takes the victory with # 99 Jason Deaton 2nd and Mark Lowe 3rd.

The Mini-Stock race had things happening before the green when during warm-ups one car blew the motor after the clean-up racing was underway with # 01 Donnie Howell and # 87 Bobby Judah were side-by-side for the lead and 3-wide racing for 3rd spot between # 6 Chris Hamlett, # 88 Burt Morse, and # 5 Chris Palmer, Morse got under Hamlett for the 3rd spot, still side-by-side for the lead Judah goes high in turn 2 and falls to the 4th spot Morse goes to 2nd and Hamlett to 3rd. Morse goes to the outside of Howell for the lead on the back stretch and gets the top spot Hamlett follows dropping Howell to 3rd. Judah tries the outside of Howell for 3rd , Burt Morse for 2 weeks in a row takes the win, with Chris Hamlett 2nd and at the line Donnie Howell 3rd.

Super Stocks went to the green with a 16 car field # 2 Paul Gibbs and # 12 David Williamson running side-by-side for the lead caution comes out for # 51 Randy Shearer getting a little help from # 97 Adam King and spins in turn 2, complete restart the top 2 drivers were side-by-side for the lead again Gibbs gets the top spot and # 42 Bubba Edwards gets under David Williamson for 2nd and # 80 Dustin Breeden follows dropping Williamson to 4th, caution for Shearer spinning on his own this time, restart # 13 Aaron Williamson and # 08 Jim Orisich tangle but keep going first 4 cars nose-to-tail then a gap, then 5th through 7th nose to tail, caution for Breeden after running 3rd starts smoking badly and pulls in moving # 34 Jeff McCaw into the top 5 restart on lap 19 David Williamson pulls in with mechanical problems while running 3rd moving his Son Aaron Williamson into the top 5, but Paul Gibbs had no problems and went on to take the win, Bubba Edwards 2nd and Jim Orisich 3rd. Whi! le taking a victory lap and trying to do a victory donut Gibbs loses his right rear axle and tire.
