Midgets WereThe Featured Race Of The Night At Aurburndale Speedway

Great racing at Auburndale Saturday night with some fans not agreeing with a call in the Super Stock race, and the winning streak for Robbie Storer in the Mini-Stocks was broken. The Midgets were the featured race of the night, and put on a good show 3 passes were made for 1st postion in just 1 lap during their feature race.

The Midgets took to the track with with # 15 Morray Hall and # 27 Denny Clark on the front row for the start. Hall took the lead with # 1 Jack Duffy 2nd and # 51 Mark Gimmler running 3rd # 10 Shawn Namor went to the inside of Clark for the 5th spot then # 4 Ted Durfee took 5th from Namor, meanwhile a battle for the lead when Duffy got under Hall for the top spot. Shawn Namor was off the pace after running in the top 5, Gimmler challenges for the 2nd spot and goes to the outside of Hall and then goes to the inside of Duffy to take the lead but Hall retakes the lead and Duffy passes Gimmler for 2nd, but Morray Hall took the win and Jack Duffy finished 2nd with Mark Gimmler taking home 3rd.

A good field of 4-Cyl. Bombers took the green with # 1 David Jouppi and # 3 Terry Jones on the front row when the green came out Jouppi took the lead, # 21 Keith Shirah 2nd, and # 27 Wayne Guy went under Jones for the 3rd spot and # 63 Steve Johnson followed dropping Jones to 5th, # 96 Larry Chumney and Jones get together on the frontstretch and Jones goes through the infield losing several spots, Wayne Guy goes under Shirah for the 2nd spot, Chumney passes Shirah for 3rd with a couple laps to go, David Jouppi takes the win, with Wayne Guy 2nd and Larry Chumney 3rd.

Super Stocks had some fans unhappy with the officials call on this race. Chris Kingham # 63 and # 13 Aaron Williamson made up the front row, with Kingham taking the lead from the start, Aaron Williamson 2nd, # 2 Paul Gibbs running 3rd, and a side-by-side battle for 4th with # 42 Bubba Edwards outside of # 80 Dustin Breeden, Breeden got the spot and then # 12 David Williamson and Edwards battle for the 5th position then caution comes out for # 97 Adam King got a little help from # 24 Mitch Large and King spun in turn two both go to the back for the restart. Before the restart Breeden pulls in after running in the top 5 but then pulls back out after the race resumes, racing underway Gibbs gets under Aaron Williamson for the 2nd spot, another caution flys when # 9 Johhny Gamble spins, bunching the field up for the restart, David Williamson goes to the inside of Edwards for the 4th position # 08 Jim Orisich follows dropping Edwards to 6th, a challenge for the lead when Gibbs get! s under Kingham and going into turn 1 they touch and Kingham spins, officials sent them both to the back, but fans did not agree with that bringing up the the question about "When a leader is protected"? The race restarted handing the top spot to Aaron Williamson, with only a few laps to go Aaron Williamson took the win with his Dad David Williamson finishing 2nd and Jim Orisich 3rd.

The Mini-Stocks had a new face in the winners circle and Robbie Storer had to settle for 2nd spot in this race. Burt Morse # 88 and # 38 Mike Margotta made up the front row, Morse took the lead, Margotta 2nd and # 87 Bobby Judah goes under # 01 Donnie Howell and then Margotta to move up to the 2nd spot, on the backstretch Robbie Storer # 9 makes it 3-wide when he goes under Margotta and Howell to take the 3rd spot, then under Judah for the 2nd spot, but Morse had a pretty big lead and Storer had to catch him, # 89 Scott Sharpe passes Judah putting him into the top 3 after starting in the back of the pack, but with time running out and no cautions Storer couldn't catch Morse and Burt Morse takes the win breaking Storer's winning streak and getting the $100 bonus for doing so, Storer finished 2nd with Scott Sharpe taking 3rd.

V-8 Street Stocks were next to take the green, # 00 Rodney Peterson taking the lead # 17 Alex Abbott 2nd, and # 99 Jason Deaton goes under # 32 David Holland for the 3rd spot, but Holland spins coming out of turn 4 and # 21 Chris Narramore nails him in the side both drivers were alright. Restart top 5 were nose to tail and the # 40 Mike Pitts steps to the outside of # 25 Jeff Davis to take 6th then Pitts got under # 51 Mark Lowe for 5th spot, Pitts on the move goes to the outside of Wilson for 4th then starts working on Deaton for 3rd but slips up and Deaton retakes the position, Rodney Peterson had no challenges and took the win, with Alex Abbott 2nd and Jason Deaton 3rd.

On the start of the LLM race # 65 Ollie Harbin got a jump on the start and took the lead with # 63 Steve Black running 2nd but # 55 Richard Elkins Jr. goes under Black to take 2nd, # 71 Dave Dunkin on the move started smoking and pulled in with a small fire in the engine but had to retire for the night. Restart top 5 Harbin, Elkins Jr., Black, # 45 Sam Cressman, and # 25 Billy Norris, caution comes out for # 28 Tim Gullett after breaking a rear-end and spinning in turn 2, another restart and Steve Black driving the # 63 (Wesley Bass's car) pulls in with mechanical problems, Elkins Jr. challenging for the lead and the top 2 pulling away from 3rd-7th which were nose-to-tail then # 1 Bart Weatherford got under Norris for 5th, then Norris retakes 5th on the outside and then challenges # 00 Ronnie Heard for 4th, Harbin slips up and Elkins goes under him for the lead, meanwhile Norris still on the outside battles for the 3rd spot with Cressman but Richard Elkins Jr. takes the win ! with Ollie Harbin 2nd and at the line Sam Cressman gets 3rd.

Next weeks schedule has the Monster Truck "Gunslinger" will be at Auburndale Speedway along with the regular classes 4-Cyl. Bombers, Super Stocks, V-8 Street Stocks, and Mini-Stocks. We would like to wish our local Mini-Stock drivers "Good Luck" in the FMSC race at New Symrna Speedway on the 25th. Racing starts at 7:00 pm, but come early to get a close up look at "Gunslinger".
