Danny Martin Jr. On A Roll At East Bay | GIBSONTON, Fla. (May 4, 2002) - Joe Melnick led the field of Sprints to the initial green flag and held the lead for the first 8 laps in the Gene Matz owned Cardinal Paint and Body Shop.
That is until #8M until a high flying Paulie Milum took the lead and looked like he would claim the victory in his American Drilling #42.
Milum lead until lap 16 of the 20 lap event when his power steering gave way. 16 year old Danny Martin Jr. just last week claimed his first career win took advantage of the situation and grabbed the top spot and held off the hard charging Greg Leonard in the Mulligan #3 to nab his second win in a row.
Leonard, Melnick, Brian Maddox and Daryl Smith rounded out the top 5.
In Late Models it was Bobby Alexander Sr. holding off Bobby Alexander Jr. to take the Lacey Tax and Accounting Main. David Schmauss held the top spot until lap 16 when Bobby Alexander Jr. took it only to relinquish the lead to his dad on lap 19, with the senior Alexander claiming another win in his long career. Following the Alexanders across the line it was Jack Nosbisch Jr., Schmauss and Keith Nosbisch.
Forrest Gough took the lead from Shane Koperda on lap 2 and easily cruised home the winner in the Lacey Tax and Accounting Limited Late Model main. Koperda held on for second over David Boerner, Jeremy Simpson and Ricky Land.
The first Lacey Tax and Accounting Street Stock Main fell to Bryson Ryker over Steven Johnson, Rob Hall, Jack Rowland and Spoony. The Second Lacey tax and Accounting Street Stock Main went to point leader Mike Gamache over Eric Johnson, Bruce Harvey, Wayne Hays and Tony Traina.
Spencer Buzbee claimed his second win of the season in the Lacey Tax and Accounting Mini Stock main over Rick Partridge, Ryan Mitchell, Dustin Perez and Brian Debore.
Tim George topped the Lacey Tax and Accounting Wingless Sprint main over Clyde Poole, Travis Bleimeister, Ken Laureno and Ike Walker. Larry Brazil Jr. crossed the line in second but was penalized at the finish for unsportsmanlike conduct and DQ'd.
