Billy Costello Gets First Feature Win at Putnam

By Debbie Keller

The 360 winged sprints were in town for there once a month visit to the speedway. Terry Witherspoon of Jacksonville set fast time and ran good in his heat befor losing the front wing caused the handling to go away. Robbie Smith won the First heat and Red Stauffer won the second heat. Kenny Adams continued to show his dominance in the feature. Starting from inside the second row it didn't take Adams long to get to the front and start lapping cars as he won his third race of the year at PCS.

Modifieds put on a great show as J.O. Nobles and Marion Sizemore went lap after lap swapping the lead until Sizemore cut a tire down. The caution came out and he was able to get back out without losing a lap. He made it back to second but ran out of laps and J.O. won with Marion close behind. Chris Hammond of Jacksonville was third.

Street Stocks saw a new face in victory lane as Billy Costello won his first feature ever. It was a great driving job as he went around Steve Wortman and Terry Lewis as there were battling it out for the lead. Terry finshed third followed by Steve Wortman.

Hobby Stocks saw the return of Ronnie Soltis to victory lane. After a couple weeks of problems it looks like Soltis is back to his dominance which made him the track champion last year. Gordon Peck led early and put up the only competetion for Soltis. Peck finished second followed by Jeff Terrell.

Pure Stocks was a good battle as last years champion Mike Tripp and this years leader Ken Durham battled it out for several laps befor Tripp had engine problems. Durham won followed by Bubba Watson of Jax and Rick Ferarro of Palatka.

Mini Stocks was won by Jay Farris of St. Augastein followed by his team mate Mike Gibbs and John Hopke.
