Danny Martin Gets First Sprint Win At East Bay

Gibsonton, FL - Daryl Smith led the field of 360 Sprints to Julian Mullis' green flag. Smith began to pull away from the field and looked stron in his Total Mobiltronics, Laceys Tax, Sams Food and Spirits, CMS #3.


However when a caution came out on lap 5 for Neal LaRose the lead Smith had built up was wiped away. 16 Year old Danny Martin Jr. in his Martin Structures #00 would take the lead from Smith on lap 6 and would have to maneuver through lapped traffic and hold off a late charge of Brian Maddox and Paulie Milum to claim his first career win.

Maddox held on for second with Milum third. Smith who had his front nose wing collapse held on for fourth with Joe Melnick rounding out the top 5.

The Sprint cars had a 6 Lap Dash for Cash Sponsored by Carr Motorsports (CMS),David Andrew Hair Studio and Spa, ABC Mortgages and Budget Racer Magazine.

Joe Melnick claimed the $500 first place prize in the $1100 purse. Brian Maddox, Danny Martin Jr., Paulie Milum, Daryl Smith and Randy Carr rounded out the field.

In Late Models it was Bobby Alexander Sr. in the Rita's Antiques/Blue Ribbon Farms #15 taking the win over a fast closing Phillip Cobb in his Morgan Farms #03, Jack Nosbisch Jr.in the Laceys Tax/Adams Used Auto Parts #12, Bill Howard in the Howard Lawn Maintenance #47 and Jeff Mathews in his #33.

Terry Gay claimed the Limited Late Model Main in his Cherry Lawn Maintenance #90 over Forrest Gough in the Tampa Marcite #21, Ricky Land in the CHeap Metal Roofing #66, William Pugh and Jerry White in the Jerry's Concrete Pumping #94.

The Street Stock A Main went to Jason Bronson over Mike Gamache, Paul Davis, Bryson Ryker and Eric Johnson.

Chad Rose claimed the Mini Stock main in the Williams Racing 7 jr. over Ryan Mitchell. Dorsey Strickland, Kenny Rutledge and Rick Partridge.

Wayne Hammond appeared to win the Open Wheel Modified main, but his Brandon Ford #48 was found to be lighjt at the scales giving the win to Bruce Watkins over Dean Varnadore, Randy Thomas, John Bradley and Randy Shields Jr.

The Street Stock B Main went to DJ Sanders and the Pure Stock main went to Alan Jack.
