Florida Mini Sprints Invade Volusia Speedway Park

The Florida Mini Sprint Association put on an action packed show at the fast Volusia Speedway Park on April 27th. The lst heat race was won by #7 Jesse Teed, and the 2nd heat race winner was #5 Steve Crabtree.

Seventeen drivers started the feature with #46 (Polar Cool) Ed James and #18 (Control Laser) Nick Keeling starting on the Pole.

When the green flag dropped #2 (Craig Trucking) Alan Craig took the lead, as the cars shuffled around for position on lap 2 the #33 (Us Car Care) of Tom Wilson moved up on the front straight away and the #5 (D&H Radiator) of Steve Crabtree moved up the track where the #1 (ESR) of Harold Matthews was at.

The left front of #1 connected with the right rear of #5 and they both shot into the wall causing both of them to flip high in the air. Harold and Steve were not hurt, except for their pride and chassis.

When the race was restarted the #2 checked out of the field lapping cars when the #46 of Ed James blew a motor causing the field to bunch up for the restart.

Alan Craig lead the most with the #2 car on a rail until the motor blew up and caused a oil fire, at the same time as the #18 of Nick Keeling running third overheated and caught a fire, both fires were put out by safety crew.

With the lead now being handed over to the #19 (Durden Surveying) of Ryan Thomas with the #7 of Jesse Teed restarting in second with Teed trying to get under the #19 going into turn one on the restart.

The #19 had over a 5 car lead over the #7 until lap 17 when the left rear lugs sheared off the car coming out of turn four causing Ryan to spin-out and flip-over and the tire rolling down the front straightaway.

With three laps left the Jet Ski Orlando #7 of Jesse Teed restarted the race and too the checkered flag with #33 of Tom Wilson finishing second. And the #86 (Heider Painting) of Russ Heider finishing third.
