Matt Watts, Rick Johns, David Rogers, James Smith Winners at New Smyrna Speedway

The Florida Mini Stock Challenge Series race story will
follow later today. But the big winner was Matt Watts #3.
Congratulations to him and all the 37 mini stocks that
came for the 50 lap race.

Dale Clouser #30 sat on the pole for the Sportsman feature
event but it was the hard charging #4 of Rick Johns that
quickly jumped to the lead and never let go. As the
#30 of Clouser, #111 of Donnie Williams and #47 of
David Gibbs and #07 of Ron Lufcy shuffled for the 2nd,
3rd, 4th and 5th place positions, when the checkers flew
it was #4 Rick Johns, #111 Donnie Williams, #47 David
Gibbs, #07 Ron Lufcy, and #30 Dale Clouser. Winner of the
heat race was the #111 of Donnie Williams.

Rusty Ebersole, Points Champion for 2001 at Orlando Speed-
World, sat on the pole for the Super Late Model feature.
Ebersole lead for a lap until the #11 of David Rogers took
the lead and never looked back. Following Rogers across
the start/finish line was #47 Rusty Ebersole, #5 Sammy
Graham, #41 and #69. Winner of the heat race #11 David
Rogers.

Robert Andercheck #90 sat ont he pole for the Late Model
feature but it was the #77 of Brian Bellaw that took over
that lead position and held on for most of the race until
the #5 of Sammy Graham was able to get around him and take
the checkers. On lap 12, the #90 of Andercheck and the #8
of Cynthia Strahley tangled but Strahely was able to
continue. Following Graham across the start/finish line
was #22 David Snodgrass, #77 Brian Bellaw, #8 Tim Clark,
and #8 Cynthia Strahley. Heat winner was the #22 of David
Snodgrass.

Super Stocks had 3 heat races with the #3 of Jeff Colburn
taking heat 1, #30 of Mike Wieczoreck heat 2 and #61 of
Ted Helmes Heat 3. The #3 of Jeff Colburn sat on the
pole for the feature race but it was the #30 of Mike
Wieczoreck that took the lead and never looked back. As
the #2 of Ron Whaley and #32 of Bill Stacy go lap after
lap side by side for the third position, Whaley takes
it only to lose it in the end to Stacy. Ted Helmes #61
held tight to keep the second place position. Top five
were #30 Mike Wieczoreck, #61 Ted Helmes, #32 Bill Stacy,
#2 Ron Whaley, and #45 Mike Soukup. The #45 of Soukup was
last week's feature winner and started in the rear of
the field and did a great job of working his way from
the 27th starting position to fifth.

Jerry Symons #66 was the heat winner for the Open Wheel
Modified race. But it was the #16 of Justin Henderson
who sat on the pole for the feature event. Henderson
was able to hold that position for most of the rest in
spite of the #66 of Symons and #2x of Jason Boyd right
behind him. Boyd finally got the pass on Henderson for
the lead but Henderson held on for second with #66 Jerr
Symons third, #75 Bobby Blake fourth and #5 Steve White
fifth.

Strictly Stocks saw the #66 of Tim Edmundson take the
heat win. But it was the #65 of James Smith who sat on
the pole for the feature race and was able to get the
lead back after being passed by the #10 of Roger Ladieu
to get the feature win. Top five were: #65 James Smith,
#10 Barry Parks, #66 Tim Edmundson, #48 David Smith and
#3 Faris Crews.

Next week, April 27th, New Smyrna Speedway will host the
TBARA Winged Sprints and the Classic Auto Racing Series.
Racing starts at 7:30 PM
